I love the Pillsbury cookbook
http://www.amazon.com/Pillsbury-Doughboy-Slow-Cooker-Recipes/dp/0764588567/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1209501817&sr=1-1. I checked it out of the library and renewed it as many times as they would let me before buying my own. I've made a bunch o' these recipes already and have post-it notes marking several more I hope to make soon...

I LOVE the library. I also get the magazines with recipes and country stuff in there. It is easier to do that and then buy what I really like instead of buying and then figuring only a few recipes are what I like.
I do know what you mean about the renew over and again as I do the same. LOL. Now the librarian just reminds me actual due date and when to renew online.

I have gotten back into slow cooking -- and I have 7 cookbooks for slow-cookers. The one that I turn to the most is one I found at a garage sale -- Best-Loved Slow Cooker Recipes c.1998 from Publications International Ltd.
Here's a later edition at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Best-Loved-Slow-Cooker-Recipes-Loved/dp/1412727456/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211083355&sr=1-2
There's not a lot of photos, but I've found the recipes have wonderful flavors.
Besides the two regular slow cookers, I just bought a small Rival pot and I love it. Just enough for dinner for two and leftovers to carry for lunch the next day.

Welcome, Gumbo Gal. I see you're brand new to the board.
I look forward to some Crock Pot/BBQ/Cajun recipes. Let me know if you have questions about Zaar.

Hi all, I splurged on myself and bought the 4th crockpot. LOL Actually, no splurge at all, bought it brand new on sale for 5 dollars. It is a Rival 2 QT crock with a warm, low, and high setting. I have been wanting one of these for a long time as most days it is 2 of us, but for holidays I can melt chocolate, heat drinks, or warm up soup/stews for DH and I.
Just thought I would let you know about my bargain.

Lora Brody's is GREAT GREAT GREAT. Caramelizing onions in the crock pot using her recipe makes onion soup even simpler.

Judith Finlayson has written a few that are quite good. One deals with comfort food and another with dependable recipes. I recomment them highly.

But Zeldaz, you voted twice.
Being unfamiliar with both, I enjoyed reading up on them. Both seem good, but I noted Judith has 6 cookbooks on slow cooking. Now, thanks to you two, I have to buy some books.

I didn't realize this thread was from 2008! Lora Brody deserves two votes, but I will refrain from voting three times. Vote early, vote often!
