Hello. Today I just discovered there is a Lebanese grocery store (with some prepared food service) in my area. I looked through it, and wished to know about all the different spices and spice blends that I saw there. Since I have adventerous taste buds, I'm now going to start to look for recipes.

A very belated hello! I've been using recipezaar for several years now (and still refuse to call it by the new name! ), and have gotten so many wonderful recipe ideas from this site!

My dad is of Sephardic (Iberian/Middle Eastern) Jewish descent, and that is my favorite cuisine, as indicated by my username! Dad was born in Argentina, but his ancestors lived in Spain until the expulsions, and then resided in Turkey/Cyprus/Levant regions until the early 1900s or so. So we have a pretty neat cuisine at home, a combination of Turkish/Middle Eastern, Spanish and South American foods My boyfriend is also Iranian Jewish, so I've been picking up a lot of Persian recipes these past few years- soo good!

I highly recommend purchasing any spice/spice mix that is unfamiliar, bring it home, Google it then come here lookig for recipes! YUM!

when i was at umaine orono, i'd zip over to montreal or more often ottawa for the weekend. dh wants us to visit either qc or toronto someday sooner than later. i will hunt you down.

I'd love to go to QC (Quebec City) When I said QC up there^^^ it was the short form of Quebec province. I am basically in Ottawa.

My father's family is from Aiteneet and my mother's family is from Aleppo, so I am pretty pure. There is one Armenian ancestor, making me 92% Syrian and 8% Armenian. If you ask my father, he'll tell you that I am half Lebanese.

I grew up with Arabic cooking and was never that crazy about American foods. Over the years, I've not cooked as much Middle Eastern food as I should have because it wasn't always appreciated in my house. Luckily, I can take the extra tabooli and hummous to work!

There are so many foods that we didn't make when I was growing up, so the NA*ME recipes are a wonderful resource. Thank you for hosting this thread and the NA*ME forum.
