Salamu Alaykum Um Safia! Nice to meet you! icon_smile.gif
About 3 yrs ago I learned some MSA and then went to learning Moroccan and did that for a yr. after that I went to Egyptian which is what I am doing right now. I can't really remember any of the Moroccan I learned. icon_redface.gif and it was so different than Egyptian that I just kind of started over again when I began Egyptian. Any way it so fun I teach my brother phrases and words and we have miniature conversations icon_lol.gif I suppose you speak an Algerian dialect??

Its about time that I stopped lurking and said Hi! I love all kinds of recipes, but spicy is my favorite! from Tagines to Chinese! Indian to African both me and my DH love them!

I have lived all over the world since the ripe old age of 6! I am now in the UK - its our gap year after we retired - to look around this part of the world.... and that was 10 years ago and we are still looking! icon_lol.gif

Hello, My name is Kristi. I just married a man from the ME and while I am a great cook of North American food, I haven't had much, okay no experience in ME food. He is always talking about the food "back home" so I am trying to help him be less home sick. We have several friends from the ME that usually cook for him, but I am his wife now. It's time for me to learn.

Kristi, I am certain that your husband will appreciate all of your efforts to cook Middle Eastern food! Keep that garlic handy!

I have been on 'zaar for a few years and have tried so many recipes. I've only posted a few ME recipes, though I am of Lebanese/Syrian descent. My maternal Sito cooked Halibea style, so you won't find cinnamon or clove in my food. You will find allspice, cumin and garlic.

There are so many recipes to make and there is so much to enjoy. The biggest problem here is getting good lamb. Everyone wants to sell mutton and call it lamb--YUK!

    Kifik to everyone!

I'm so glad that you've found the Algerian recipes here helpful & that your husband is content icon_lol.gif

In case you've not seen it, I put a cookbook together a while ago: ALGERIAN SPECIALTIES

All my Algerian recipes are what I cook for my own Algerian family so you know that they are tried & true!

If there is a particular recipe you're looking for, please don't hesitate to drop by the forum & ask - I am always more than happy to share icon_wink.gif
