Me again. I just posted on Low Fat's comfort food. Hmmm... My (our) problem with most Low Fat recipes has always been that they're too high in sugar, including all the "hidden" forms of sugar. So DH & I started a free Newsletter full of yummy recipes which are low in
both. Cardiologists say that's what's best.
Check out

I've copied last Thursday's Newsletter section on low fat & sugar dressings. (The first you can use as a dressing or for grilling.)
Cheers!

2) Now for a sugar-free barbecue sauce recipe. Unfortunately, the barbecue sauces we love have tons of sugar; ditto ketchup, did you know that? I’ve studied some brands that advertise “less sugar, fewer calories,” but they’re still high…in the way that 9 is less than 10 but -- big deal. And who eats just a 1 tablespoon serving? So try this one below. I actually think it’s more delicious than the others… plus it can be used for grilling or for cold salads. Totally all-purpose & healthy. “MLA” is a term we use in our book, btw. It means Make Lots Ahead. I always have a bottle of it in the fridge. Always ready, & home-made!
MLA Vinaigrette… 125 calories per serving
Serves 4:
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard (baseball mustard just doesn’t work)
garlic powder
tarragon, dried
Pour olive oil into container. Add red wine vinegar, then Dijon; stir.
Add powdered garlic & tarragon. Lots.
Stir with fork, or if using old Dijon jar, screw cover back on and shake vigorously.
Recipe thus far is your true vinaigrette. If you wish fewer calories in it water it down and shake again. You can add more garlic & tarragon; the calorie count won’t change & the spices are what really gives vinaigrette its taste.
3) “Reduced Fat Mayonnaise” still has a lot of saturated & hydrogenated fat in it. Plus you have to worry about any kind of mayonnaise spoiling in the heat. Try this. It’s way lower cal, healthier, & you’ll swear it’s mayonnaise!

1/2 cup plain non-fat yogurt ………………………………...50 c.
1/2 tsp Sugar-Free Jello Vanilla pudding …………………..….5 c.

Mix together the two Jello products & the yogurt. Add in the tuna, onion, celery & tomatoes; arrange on lettuce -- or between 2 slices of healthy bread because you can, you’ve saved so many calories.
