This is an ongoing conversation about what we really and truly feed our families day in, day out. We are a diverse group here. Because of that, all we ask is respect and tolerance in this thread. Oh and no guilt! We all try and feed our families healthy food but sometimes that box of macaroni & cheese does get eaten. This is real life, so we understand that things come up. We are trying our best and enjoying each other's company along the way!

    Happy New Year!

Hi there! Or here... whatever the case may be!

    icon_smile.gif

We did finger foods from M&M Meat Shops for "dinner". It was an interesting way to try a bunch of new things. Out of all the new things, we only found about 4 things that we would repeat. Not bad really, considering we tried 8-10 new things. icon_smile.gif

    Heck, I don't belong here, it's still 9:34, 2007.

OK, so if I died right this very minute, did I live until 2007 or 2008? I was born in New Jersey, and it's 2008 there right now. Well, I know, but I like to think things through. icon_lol.gif

I am much more tired than usual, because I know I have to stay up late and I have no desire to do so. Is Dick Clark looking well? ZZzzzzz....

No. Dick doesn't look like he is going to see 2009. icon_sad.gif It won't be the same without him. I think Ryan Seacrest is going to take over for him. I don't like Ryan.

    You are from Joisey?

Why don't you like Ryan? I don't mind him. I'm sorry for Dick Clark. They always said he'd be forever young.

I don't really speak Joisey. There was a town , a large town near me called Newark; properly pronounced New-ark. Two syllables, ok? We just got lazy tongues and called it Nork.

The hardest one for me was getting over orange. That one has two syllables as well, doesn't it? I can say that word with one syllable!

Well, happy New Year. I'm still stuck in 2007. Aw, heck, some days I'm stuck in 1977. It's all good.

I say orange with one syllable. And Newark only has one too.

But then, I speak hick. (not redneck... hick)

I say G'day. And not nearly as nicely as Ginger would.

Actually the whole line is "G'dee! An' 'ow are ya now?" icon_lol.gif

Newark and orange with one syllable? I'm impressed.

I don't think I can do Oz well, but I seem to be able to produce some vaguely European accent that nobody can quite place, and I love the look on people's faces when I tell them where I'm really from.

Adam has seen some BBC series like Walking With Dinosaurs, and he's nailed a British accent. I just ask him to go BBC and he switches it on.

What is the definition between hick and redneck?

Much more importantly, why don't you go to bed? Isn't it 1:24 there?

See you next year. icon_rolleyes.gif I'm going back to 2007.

    And, really, it's G'dee?

Morning all! I hope you had better nights than me. We had fun w/ our friends and were in bed about 11:30. Then, right after I fell asleep, at 11:45 the burglar alarm got tripped (well, it started that warning beep and we had to turn if off)--so hard to get back to sleep then. At 12:15, Megs has to use the potty (which for some reason she can't do w/o telling me icon_twisted.gif ) so she wakes me up again, and it was all somehow downhill from there. Woke up at 5am w/ a migraine. And of course my little alarm clock was up at 6 on the nose! Gonna be a looonnnggg day here. But enough whining! We did have a very nice evening w/ our friends. Served lamb chops w/ saffron rice and salad and rolls, and our friends brought their chocolate fountain for dessert. Mmmmmmm!

I'm a little sleep deprived too, MB'sM. My alarm clock is internal; it doesn't understand that I was up later than I like last night or that today is a holiday.

I'm going to make Creamless Broccoli Soup. Have to go buy the oatmeal; I seem to go to the store every day. I'll get to use my new immersion blender; oh, boy! icon_lol.gif

    Sorry about the migraine MnB'sMom!

It seems to be the day for pains. I woke up to a spasm on my right side. I would almost say it feels like a blood clot because it just keeps sending a shot of pain through me every so often. I've now taken a back pain medicine in the hopes that it will help. So far, it seems to be helping a little bit.

A redneck is a person that Jeff Foxworthy likes to yap about. And they tend to have a lower living standard. A hick is simply a farmer or someone from the country. No lower living standard. icon_smile.gif At least those are my definitions.

That soup looks awesome. Daniel and I would enjoy that.

I am not sure what to do about food. We got almost a foot of snow last night (and it is still snowing). So I don't know about taking Kali home today. It may be best if she hangs out here for another day. icon_rolleyes.gif That just means that she has to come with us to Daniel's psych assessment. She is a good girl, she will wait well.

Good morning ladies, Happy New Year!!

We had an early/slow morning here, as well. We barely made it to 12:30 last night, but Alex doesn't care about late nights -only early mornings!

Today is our anniversary and we always do a crab boil on New years eve - so we get to figure out fun stuff with leftovers today.

Hope everyone gets to have a lovely lazy day today! icon_smile.gif

ETA - I got a new emersion blender too..LOVE it!

THANKS!!!! nine years... I can barely believe it. (and the only marriage for both of us)

We are off to buy doggie diapers for my poor baby that we thought was fixed! icon_sad.gif
Not a very happy dog - or doggie mama, for that matter. (i didn't even know they made doggie diapers....

Ok, I'm totally confused. What is the connection between being "fixed", and doggie diapers? Did I miss some basic anatomy stuff?

At any rate, it sounds like a very romantic anniversary. icon_eek.gif

well, "doggie diapers" (that's what the store called them) are not for poop. Or pee for that matter. Guess I should have been more specific - Think of them as maxi pads for pooches. Sorry - TMI.
    And yes, Oh-so-romantic!! icon_smile.gif

Just a day in the life...
