    Hi there
I just wanted members to know Mastercook 9.0 is an excellent software program to store recipes. I have been using it for about 6 months now and absolutely love it.
The greatest feature is a MC Browser that is there to click from your internet explorer if you see any recipe on the internet, recipe site including here. You click the MC button and the browser drops on the left side of your computer.
You then hightlight the recipe click the boxes in the mastercook browser hit add to recipe list done that includes pictures of the recipes too. Then hit button to upload to program, hightlight the cookbook you want to put it in and it is done!
It looks detailed but it is so simple. I have been using Mastercook since it started, I believe with Sierra's 2.0 so I am kind of a pro using it. If anyone has a problem on how to use it I can help!
Please I do not have anything to do with this program, just want members to know that this it is great! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks Molly! Please understand that Mastercook is my second option from Zaar. icon_wink.gif I love this place and when I find a recipe I want to keep I transfer them from here to my Mastercook Cookbook called Zaar Keepers. Just saw some members with questions about MC so thought I would help if I could.

I am interested in upgrading from Mastercook Deluxe 4.0 to either Mastercook Deluxe 8.0 or 9.0. I have not been able to find out about the compatibility of the versions regarding moving existing recipes to the new version(s). I would appreciate any informations that you may be able to provide.

I know when installing the 9.0 it asks if you have other versions and the software will install these other Mastercooks to the new version icon_biggrin.gif I never got 8 so not sure on that one but most likely that one will do it also!

This is not shareware or freeware. It started as a Sierra product but is now put out by ValuSoft.

    Check it out here....

OKAY! I recently upgrded to 9.0 and am having "issues" getting the web import to work. I've gone to the ValuSoft site and downloaded the patch. But when running it, the message box says it doesn't need it or it has already been installed, so it doesn't install. I've gone through the view menu bar thing to be sure I'm using the correct menu bar in IE 7. The problem is that the "Add to Recipe List" button does not work. It doesn't activate, doesn't allow clicking, doesn't work, basically. This is NOT the download version, but the purchased version. Any help would be appreciated. This was one feature I paid the full price for.

I upgraded from 4 to 9. The recipes/cookbooks imported fine. The ingredient list doesn't....the prices do not import, so you have to enter them all over again. It's a data format issue. I'm still trying to get the web import to work. Other than that, I like it okay. It's always hard to get used to new or upgraded software, IMHO.

I was just on another recipe site downloading some recipes to MC and they had this information concerning MC and IE:

Internet Explorer: A recent IE update causes MasterCook to launch but not import properly when using the "OPEN" option (only in updated Internet Explorer browsers). If you experience this, please chose "SAVE" instead of "OPEN".

To import this recipe into MasterCook software (versions 6-9):
Click on the button below. When the dialog box appears you can either open the recipe or save it (or cancel it).

--To immediately import the recipe into MasterCook software - click on OPEN. This will prompt your MasterCook software to open and process the recipe (follow the directions once your software opens).

--If you have problems opening the recipe, or wish to import it later, click SAVE. Select the location on your computer where you wish to save the recipe.
Import this recipe into MasterCook - versions 6-9By downloading this recipe you agree to our TOS regarding recipe use

NOTE: If you get a message that says The XML page cannot be displayed it means you do not have MasterCook set up to automatically accept formatted recipes. Choose "save" instead and import it once you have your software launched.

    ****************************************************

I don't know if this will help you or not but I thought I would pass on the info.

BTW, the recipe site has a link on each recipe to import it into MC ~ isn't that a great idea? I wish they would do that here icon_cool.gif

Thanks, Luvs, but it doesn't help me. icon_sad.gif I don't get an "open" button, or a "save" button using the IE MC web import feature. Using IE 6.0.29 with MC 9. I get what it says I'm supposed to get, but it doesn't work. icon_mad.gif
