    does anyone have a recipe for ali's bean pie (muslim) .....made with navy beans?

    I don't know what the significance of the "ali's" part of the name is....if it's actually a type of bean pie or an individuals version of it...but here is what I have for bean pies using navy beans. If you find one to your liking, please post it for us on zaar.

    #47236 SOUP BEAN PIE

    Ingredients :
    2 c. cooked navy beans
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 unbaked pie shell

    Preparation :
    Run beans through colander to remove husks. Add other
    ingredients, blending well. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at
    350 degrees for 35 minutes.

    Ingredients :
    1 c. navy beans, cooked and mashed
    4 eggs, beaten
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Preparation :
    Mix all ingredients thoroughly and pour into your favorite recipe
    of unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees until filling is set.

    Ingredients :
    2 c. Navy beans
    3 c. sugar
    2 cans Carnation milk, lg.
    2 sticks butter
    5 or 6 eggs
    2 tbsp. cornstarch
    2 tbsp. cinnamon
    1 tbsp. vanilla
    1 tbsp. salt

    Preparation :
    Cook beans in plain water and drain and mash in colander. Mix
    other ingredients with beans. Bake 30 to 45 minutes or until done
    like pumpkin pie. Makes 4 aluminum pie tins.

    Ingredients :
    3 c. cooked beans (great northern navy)
    2 c. evaporated milk
    5 eggs
    2 tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 lb. butter
    2 c. sugar
    2 tbsp. cinnamon or 1 tbsp. cinnamon
    and 1 tbsp. nutmeg
    1 tbsp. lemon extract

    Preparation :
    Cream sugar and butter together, then add cinnamon, cornstarch,
    and blend well. Add eggs, one at a time, mix well, then add beans
    and mix well. Add milk, and blend well. Pour into pie crust, bake
    for 5 minutes at 450 degrees, reduce heat to 375 degrees and cook
    until done. Makes 3 (9 inch) pies.

    Ali is a muslim from NY and makes the best bean pies I have ever eaten. I am going to try your recipes to see if they are close are can be a base for his. I'll post if I get the recipe.

    You can substitute navy beans for the pinto beans in any of the versions of Pinto Bean Pie.
