    Looking for recipe for dessert spaghetti pie

    Growing up my bestfriend's mom(N.Y. Italian) would make this amazing spaghetti pie for dessert. It had spaghetti,eggs,cinnamon... Has anyone heard of such thing? I am not sure if it was a family recipe or not. My friend and I have since lost touch through moves, but the thoughts of spaghetti pie still linger.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Although this version is not an Italian one, this is a sweet noodle pie type recipe and contains noodles, eggs, cinnamon:

    Sweet Noodle Kugel

    I am certain you can use spaghetti in this too, I would break the noodle in half first though.

    Here's a recipe that sounds like what you're looking for..............and it sure sounds yummy.

    I also have a recipe posted for Sweet Kugel that may work well with spaghetti. Perhaps you could omit the topping to make it more 'authentic'.

    1/2 lb. cooked spaghetti, drained well
    4 eggs
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Combine cooked spaghetti with butter or margarine. Set aside. In a large bowl beat eggs
    with sugar and vanilla. Add spaghetti and butter mixture. Blend well. Pour mixture into a
    greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. until lightly browned and crusty on top, 35
    to 45 minutes. Serve at room temperature

    Hello, in Roumania when they have spaghetti left over, they beat an egg, stir in cottage cheese, mix with the pasta, and make an omelette, which they sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon! Makes a very tasty sweet, and is a good way to use up your left over pasta

    Yes! I have been looking for the same recipe! My italian Grandmother use to make it for Easter. She called it "Pastead" Not sure of the spelling, but that is how she pronounced it.

    She never wrote down her recipes, so my Aunt and I have tried to recreate some dishes after she passed.

    I want to try contacting some of my Great Aunts to see if they remember the ingredients. I know there was cinnamon, anise, and ricotta cheese. I will repost when I get more info!

    Let me know if you get anymore info! I love this dish!

    My mother-in-law used to make a spaghetti pie called
    "monchech" not sure of the spelling. I make it from her recipe. We use 1 lb cooked spaghetti, 1 stick of margarine,
    6 eggs, 1/2 can of condensed milk and cinamon if you like.

    I think this might be what we are all looking for:


    2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    1/4 cup butter
    1/2 cup white sugar
    3 eggs
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1 cup water
    1/2 cup uncooked white rice or spaghetti
    1 quart milk
    1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
    1 1/2 cups white sugar
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
    6 eggs

    Stir the flour and baking powder together in a bowl; set aside. In a second large bowl, cream the butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in 3 eggs, one at a time, and stir in the vanilla. Gradually beat in the flour mixture to make a soft dough. Divide the dough in half and shape into two balls. Working on a lightly floured surface, roll out each ball to fit two 10 inch pie plates. Line the pie plates with the crust, and refrigerate until needed.
    Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan, and stir in the rice. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 20 minutes. Stir in the milk. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens. Set aside to cool.
    Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
    Meanwhile, beat the ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and 6 eggs together in a mixing bowl until smooth and frothy. Stir in the cooled rice mixture until evenly blended. Pour into the pie shells.
    Bake pies in preheated oven until the filling is set and tops are golden brown, about 90 minutes. Cool on racks.

    Spaghetti Strudel
    AdvertisementIngredients1 pound cooked, leftover spaghetti

    2 cups sugar

    6 eggs

    1 stick butter

    1 tablespoon cinnamon
    PreparationPre-heat oven to 350.

    Take leftover or freshly cooked spaghetti which is still hot (or reheat it in the microwave) and toss it with a stick of butter. Place cooked spaghetti in casserole dish.

    Mix sugar, eggs and cinnamon together and pour over spaghetti. Cover with foil.

    Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.Let rest and then slice into squares once at room temperature or still warm.

    I think I may have the recipe you are looking for. Some make it with spaghetti broken up into one inch pieces. I use Orzo.

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees
    Butter and flour a roasting pan. I use one that is bigger than a 9x13

    1 lb. orzo
    2 lbs. ricotta cheese
    10 large eggs
    2 cups sugar
    2 tsps. vanilla
    1/8 cup milk

    Boil past until al dente. Drain and return to pot.
    While pasta is cooking, beat together the ricotta cheese, sugar, vanilla and milk. Pour over cooked, drained pasta. Stir well. Pour into prepared pan. I sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on the top. Bake until set.[/i]

    the italian name for that easter pie is Pastiera. there are a bunch of variations, but if you search for the recipe online you will probably find one that comes close to what you remember.
