Make sure you do give me a shout before coming up here. I might be able to show you one or two very good restaurants. I love eating out here!
Oh, I can definitely understand your language/accent troubles. Even I (who speaks German as a mother tongue) have problems understanding some of the people in the Ruhrgebiet or Bavaria. Its like they were speaking some completely different language. But well, most of them do speak some sort of high German so whenever Im completely lost I just smile and ask them politely if they could repeat it in a less accent rich speak.
Maybe you've said it already, but if it's not rude, I'd luv to know how come you're in Germany now. When did you move here? Do you find settling in alright? I truly hope you like it here!
Have a great day everyone!
Warmest regards

No, I don't mind you asking. My husband is German so I moved here to be with him. We met in a language school in France, and that is why I spoke almost no German at first. It is coming a lot faster that I am living here full time, I was studying in the UK so I was only here part time until September.
I like it here, in some ways it is easier to deal with being here than it was the UK, even with the language issues. People here are generally nice. Now that I am here all the time I have been able to make my own friends and so on. I am still getting used to some things, but that will come with time. I feel more at home here than I do most places, including where I grew up, I always have cultural shock when I go to see my family.
