    When I was in college, there was this little place that served what I believe was Pakistani and Indian cuisine, I can't quite recall. My favorite item on the menu was call a Chapli Kehbab and was described on the menu as a "Spicy Peshwari Beef Patty". It wasn't cooked on skewers like their other kehbabs either, basically it was two flat, hamburger looking patties that were fried in oil and then served with flatbread. I've looked around for a recipe for them, but I've never been able to find one and my own efforts to recreate it are lacking to say the least. Is anyone here familiar with the dish?

    I'm not very familiar with IndoPaki cuisine, but try your question in this forum and I am sure someone will be familiar with your question.

    Hope this one comes close to what you used to have..

    Ingredients:

    1 kg finely minced beef or lamb
    1 tbsp ginger paste
    1 tsp garlic paste
    1 tsp red chilli powder
    1 tsp whole coriander seeds (dry-roasted and coarsely ground)
    1 tsp whole cumin seeds (dry-roasted and coarsely ground)
    1 tsp dried pomegranate seeds (crushed) (its also called anardana in hindi/urdu)
    4 green chillies, finely chopped (deseeded if you like)
    1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
    2 tomatoes, finely chopped
    1 bunch fresh coriander leaves
    2 tbsp corn meal flour (not corn flour)
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    Salt to taste

    Vegetable oil for shallow frying

    Method:

    Combine the whole lot of ingredients (except for the oil) with the mince meat and give it all a good mix. Leave to marinate in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours.
    To make the kebabs, take about 2 tbspful of mixture in your hand, place it in the centre of your palm and roll it into a smooth ball and then press it down to make into flat patties.
    Heat the oil (heat has to be on medium to low) and fry the patties until brown (about 5 minutes or so on each side).
