My mother use to make Kuga. I will try to find the recipe. I am almost certain someone in the family has it. It was made the same way you are talking about. If you still want it let me know

So we can save it to our cookbooks. DO NOT get me wrong I DO apperciate the postings here, but I have not figured out how to save them to my cookbook and I'm afraid of loosing them !

I'm still looking for a recipe that you cook the dough in milk and hot oil, while I know this sounds outraguos my hubbys family (originaly out of Russa for 2 generations now) makes this recipe and nobody has it written down ! SO Thank You Ladies & Gents for this information and I do want to try these other recipe here they sounds YUMMY !

my mom made fried bread also. It is also called tuffys or squaw bread. You can use regular bread dough you buy at the store and cut it into fist size chunks. Then stretch them out like pizza dough and deep fry them in hot oil. Flip them over as they turn golden brown. You can rub them in a plate of sugar and its great that way. We also ate it with potato soup. Which was potatos boiled in water then can milk added. I dont know the specifics yet on the pachinda but i will get back to you.

Did you ever find this recipe? I know exactly what you are talking about. My grandma made it every Christmas and Easter for us.... I am so upset I didn't get the recipe before she passed.I would love to make it for my dad for Christmas morning.

Just a quick comment though, that has come up in regard to any German "Cheese Type Cake. Germany uses
QUARK, which is nothing like Cottage Cheese here in the US. It is very hard to come by here.
