There certainly are! Thanks for sharing. I've made Mirj's slow cooker oatmeal, but am so happy to find a Crockette version. I'm going to have to create a cookbook in my MasterCook just for those.

I love my (brown) Crockette that I've had for years, but I get frustrated when I see recipes for it that amount to 6 cups of ingredients when the capacity is only 4 cups.
I use it mostly for making my Steel Cut Oats overnight, but I am trying to use it more for regular meals since I'm cooking for one.

What is the capacity of your mini slow cooker? Mine is only 1.5 qts and has only one setting. It is a Rival Crockette.

Just use 2/3 the amt of ingredients. HTH

P.S. What are the measurements you use for your oatmeal?

The "point" being made was that the Crock-etteŽ capacity is 4 cups and does not exist in a 6-cup capacity.
I've never written down the recipe for Steel Cut Oats in my Crockette but I think it is about 1/2 cup oats to 2 cups water, plus anything else you want to add for flavoring.

I'm reviewing this thread cuz I've had my 1.5 quart slow cooker now for a few weeks and am looking for new things to do. It uses 90 watts on High.
My favorite things to cook so far are, 1. baked potatoes, and 2. baked sweet potatoes, and 3. baked apple sauce with cinnamon and raisins.
I can't remember where I saw a recipe for some kind of roast that looked good,, but tonight I see roast beef. Tell me now,, are there any special things I should know about roasting beef in a crockpot? I know that one has to be very careful about making sure that it hits a high enough temperature.

I just put in, add a cut-up potato and other veggies that fit, and maybe a dash or two of Kitchen Bouquet. If its a fatty cut you probably don't need to add any water, otherwise you can toss in a couple Tablespoons. I will provide gravy. It goes 10-12 hours for me.

It's my small batch/crockette cookbook. Hope it helps.
Also, at the beginning of my cookbook there are other collections listed. Just about any recipe for 2 could be done in the crockette.

Thanks! I have, and intend to try the meatloaf and the chicken-in-a-pot. I've got this whole thread tagged as a favorite so I can try the recipes on here.
Red Apple Guy pointed me to it when I posted that I got a new little slow cooker. He's been very helpful to me here, and when I got my new stovetop pan grill!
I'm not much on casseroles, but I like to roast and bake. I haven't done much baking and roasting though since the nest emptied, so the little slow cooker does a good job for 2 people.
I'll be hanging around here a lot!

Sounds good. Yankee cornbread or southern? My son is baking cornbread as I type (Jiffy).
