I haven't fished since I moved over here to England 10 years ago! Well, I guess I have but never in England. The last time I fished it was when I went home for a visit in 1998. I went out on Lake Erie with my sister and her friends. I didn't catch anything that I would jump up and down about, but hey, at least I got something. I have a picture somewhere, I'll have to 'fish' it out. hehehe
I am going back next month for a visit and hopefully will get to do a bit then.

Well we just got back fromWalleye fishing, DH caught one big one- 23 " and I got 2 aroun d 20". I also hooked a HUGE one, but had my drag set too high and broke the line, it was one of the heaviest freshwater fishies ever to find my pole and I am bummed, I would have loved to seen how big he really was.
It was a beautiful evening, after a day of big wind, the water was calm and it was about 50, the sun was setting, some good natured heckling was being tossed about.
Now, its mojito time!!!!!

Holy Toledo! Very nice and you hooked some nice catches!! Sorry about the one that got away. It's also a bummer having to string your line again! Do you have any photos?
All in all it sounds like you had a great night out. So what are you gonna do with the fish, any recipes in mind?

I THOUGHT I took pics, but my digital camera says huh? It really is getting old and I think sometimes the memory card is not fully seated.
We did use Simple Batter for Fish or Veggies recipe #93428 for the fish and the fries. We built a fire in our outdoor fireplace, and since we did not want to get out the big turkey fryer, DH ran an extention cord to the grill and we put our deep fryer on the shelf, it worked great.
Tartar sauce was just mayo and dill relish with a splash of lemon- I don't like really sweet tarter- I wonder if that is posted.....

Here are some Walley pics from last year, we usually stop at 3, they are very filling
And these are the filets, the meat is so fresh and cooks up white and sweet, we love it

BTW- Hubby bought me a good gerber filet knife for xmas 2 years ago, if you fish often, it is a most excellent investment

 Hey Everyone!
We spent the week up at the lake last week for the fishing season opener at Mineral Lake Wa.
What a great time we had but I do have to say that the fishing was pretty horrible. The fish were not taking anyones bait this year,, much. DH happen to have some good luck one day this is his catch (i caught 2 that day he got the rest)
and there were a few days I only caught 1 or 2 (a day)
5 is a limit for one person at Mineral lake, a day.
This is my biggest catch so far this year. The fish really put on a struggle coming in, I thought I would lose him before he got to the boat. but DH managed to net him for me
The fish weigh 1 pound

My husband, four year old daughter and 18 month old son and I have been fishing often the last two weeks...often as we can anyway...had quite a bit of luck. We mostly fish for trout...have caught 21 keeper size rainbow trout, turned a few more loose, and have caught about 7 blue gill and 1 small mouth bass! Lots of fun and something the whole family enjoys!
( I have pictures...but couldn't figure out how to post...they are in a file on my computer...not on a website...I am still very new to these whole message board things...so sorry)
Even my four year old has caught three fish on her own! My 18 month old just likes to carry a stick as his pretend pole and chase the ducks that come by....like I said, fun for the whole family!

Went fishing Sunday at eight mile lake, a 3 mile 2000 ft. vertical rise hike, we did well last year, but this year the water was high, hooked 4 makinaw, landed none, . This is the view as I ate my lunch
Yes, that is snow, this is an alpine lake.
But this is what I was doing with my feet as I ate
