Hello Friends,
Well column 5 did get done afterall. I don't think, however, that I will be able to post the recipes in the column to the zaar system at this time though. I do now have 10 posted recipes in the system.

Thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I am going to try and post these breads to the zaar recipe system now. Will let you all know when they are published.
In the Rough Khoubz recipe, the temperature should read 110-115 degrees F. Quick writing and a bad hand!

It is amazing how some things are common among very diverse cultures. My ethnic background is Lithuanian, but we have a very similar respect for bread. It's not so common now, but a generation or so ago, one would make the sign of the Cross over a loaf of bread before cutting it. (Lithuanians are predominanty Roman Catholic, with a significant Lutheran minority, small percentages of Jewish and Muslim, and other Christian sects). And just as you do in Morocco, any piece of bread that falls is reverently picked up, kissed, and set aside.
Your descriptions of just the breads have whet my appetite for visiting Morocco sometime!
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh thank you so very much! It is very nice when those who don't "know" each other can still have feeling. I was raised Protestant Congregationalist which is quite dry. I then became Catholic 10 years after going to a Mass with a boyfriend. I then became Muslim 5 years ago, just after I met Mohamed for the 1st time. It wasn't for him though as we lost touch for over 4 years and he spent that entire time trying to find me. He did! I had researched and been interested for quite some time in Islam. Oh! This is a recipe site!!
In my research and travels I have found much reverence for bread as the grain was "manna from GOD." Believed by nearly all religions. I have also found that, as you said, in many places it was more common a generation ago. I am lucky enough to live in a place where small children out playing will clean and kiss the bread or cookie and it shows up on my window sill. I remember the first time I said to Mohamed look what someone did in a terse voice. I was then told how to treat bread in Morocco. Makes me feel warm and good to show that respect!
Warmly,

Well friends, I did indeed get the breads into the zaar system and they should be published by tomorrow (12 Sept.) and all 3 recipes are in. That will give me a total of 15 recipes and the easiest way to find them is to use my name. I wish I was a premium member then I could post photos,,,,oh well, Jan did a lovely pic of my sauce tomatish. Thank you again Jan!

I just went to "My Stuff" to look at doing photos again. The only photo I am able to do is of me (whatever the photo is, it will appear on the "about me" page) and it has to come from an online source. So I would have to bring it in from my own website, not a problem. But for doing any additional photos, such as the dishes for my recipes; it says requires premium membership next to all of those options. Am I missing something??

Okie Dokie, I just tried to link to a photo of myself from my own website. It comes up forbidden to link, though I have done this before. The forbidden message is coming from my site, not zaar. Just as a by the way, Lahouifi M'semmen has been published though not showing as of 30 mins or so ago. It is in and the rest should be as of sometime today.

I have just posted a photo of our dinner last night; "Mohamed's Neck of Lamb Tagine" (yes cooked in a pot NOT a Tagine! ) I know what is in it and how he did it and will try to get him to find time today to sit with me and give me amounts so I can put it into the zaar system. It was really yummmy! You can find it on the Photos Page at www.hajar.bz.tc

P.S. I need to get the flash on my camera repaired so this was the best that I could do. It also shows the bread we eat it with similar to "My Rough Khoubz" Enjoy!
