Need Help ~ "Hot Stone Grilling"

When we lived in Germany, we acquired a Grilling Stone (actually marble). You put the stone in the oven & heat it, then set it in the middle of the table on a framework similar to that used for chaffing dishes with two sterno burners under it. THEN ~ you had a bunch of small dishes of raw meats & veggies (all cut in slices or cubes about 1" sq) Used some shrimp also.

We used fondue forks & then just picked the stuff you wanted to eat & put it on the grill & cooked to your desire, then put it on your plate & ate. Everyone cooks their own food.

I have the directions for preparing the stone (heating times & bacon to season the grill then salt it.) What I need help with now is: WHAT DO I SERVE TO COOK ON THIS THING? It has been a long time since we used it & I have forgotten.

It is a great thing to have when you have another couple or 2 joining you for supper. You prepare all this raw food ~ set the table ~ then enjoy it with conversation & some nice GERMAN wine!

Note: Would not be good for young kids ~ just a little much for them, but teens could do it easy. Just be careful as the stone is VERY HOT!

    Thanks,

When we use the stone grill (in Holland) I serve a salad with it, garlic butter and a baguette as a side.

I also slice up large mushrooms to do on the grill besides the meat, and sliced canned peaches. Meats I serve are... small slices of steak, pork tenderloin, chicken breast, mini hamburgers and large prawns.
Like with a meat fondue I serve it with some sauce like a cocktail sauce or a curry sauce.
