I studied in Zurich when I was in High School and LOVED the food! Anyone have recipes for: Zopf, Alpermagronen, or ANYTHING traditional Swiss? My Host Mom made these amazing bananas wrapped in proscuitto with curry sauce - definitely not Swiss but would still love the recipe! TIA!
Curry banans - one of my favourites

. So cheap and so yummy! Haven't had them for a while, though
Hey, I know the bananas are not Swiss, well, let's say it is at least not a traditional Swiss dish such as Zopf, Fondue, Raclette, Rösti, Aargauer carrot cake and so on. Fact is, that a lot of people know curry banana because it is in a famous Swiss recipe book.
Another kind of new traditional Swiss dish is Riz Casimir. This is diced meat (usually chicken or pork) in a curry sauce including fruit (usually tropical fruit such as pineapple and bananas). It's always served with rice.
We also have a few new traditional Swiss cakes so to speak. Have you heard of the Swiss Mississipi loaf? It's got chocolate bars in it which won't melt. Used to be a big hit when I was a kid and probably still is a big hit with kids. There is also a quite popular Zucchini loaf.
And then there are of course the real traditional Swiss cakes, such as the carrot cake I mentioned. You will find a recipe on zaar: "
recipe #21392" . And there is also a nut pie, it's called Engadiner Nusstorte.
I will post some recipe this weekend. Posting is quite time-consuming but I'm glad to post whatever you are looking for (that is, if I'm able to find the recipes). I want to post more recipes anyway, since I want to be picked in the pick a chef (see contests and events).
Let me know the three recipes you are most looking forward to!
I'm gald you enjoyed your stay (and the food) in Switzerland!!!
