Ok, folks. I need your help. With all this recipe browsing before Shavuot, I'm just about salivating over some of the wonderful things that can be made from sweetened condensed milk. On top of that, my husband grew up on the stuff, and really misses it. Now I am looking for some that is chalav yisrael. Can't find any here in Chicago. Any leads?

I'm sure they sell it in Israel, but I have no idea what it called so I never found it.

All the sweetened condensed milk in Israel is chalav akum. I buy it, but like to make most of my desserts parve, so I usually make my own parve sweetened condensed milk, using soy milk powder. You can make a dairy or parve version as you like. This is the recipe I use:

    I'm interested!

Do you need powdered soy milk for it? Almost impossible to get locally.
