I've recently aquired a baking stone. Is there anything I need to do before using it or do I just bake the bread on it straight away?

I've also inhereited never before used baking bowls (baking stones in bowl form). What can I use these for?

The first time you use it you will need to season it with oil, like you would a cookie sheet. After a while ( when it gets brown and stained) you won't need to do this. Don't wash it in soap , when it is cool run water over it and give it a scrap with a something plastic,

    From the Pampered Chef website:

To season your Stoneware, grease and/or flour your Stoneware according to recipe or package directions for the first several bakings. After these bakings, your Stoneware will begin to season and greasing may not be required.

Other stoneware tips are on this page:

    Hope this helps. Good luck!
