Hi!
Can you help me find a recipe that has homemade egg noodles stuffed with a cottage cheese-allspice-bread mixture?
They are cooked in a cream and butter sauce. My mom made these when I was a kid, she called them case noodle, and I would love to make them for my family! Thank you so much!!

This is a german or russian (??) main dish....it has cottage cheese, bread, allspice and I think eggs in the filling. The filling is placed in raw homemade egg noodles then boiled. After cooked, it is then placed in a cream-butter mixture. My mom called it "Case Noodle" a friend of hers called them "Pillows" I know those are not the proper names (LOL). That is all I really know about the recipe, I have never attempted it, I just remember watching my mom make it as a kid....I hope you can help!!

I don't know the recipe you seek, but try posting this request in the German Cooking forum. By the way, the german for "cheese" is Käse (pronounced kay-zih). Hope that helps!

Hey, I have that recipe! The only difference is that we don't serve it in cream, but that is probably just a personal preference anyway. My recipe came from my sister's MIL, who recently passed away. She made them for us many times and I have made them myself, also. I will find the recipe and post it here for you tomorrow (too late & I'm tired now).

Wow, this is going to be difficult to post to the Recipezaar database until I actually make some (which I haven't done in years). The recipe is written out by her as follows:
Cottage Cheese Noodle Buttons
Take a package of dry-curd cottage cheese (DO NOT use creamed) and add some salt. I never measure--suit your taste. Add a couple of beaten eggs, allspice to taste, chopped green onions, and some bread crumbs.
Dough:
2 or 3 cups flour, salt, 3 or 4 eggs, warm water. Mix together and roll out. Cut into squares.
Put a spoonful of filling on each square and fold corners to the center, pinching to seal well (I'd moisten with a little water to get a really good seal).
Then boil in salted water and saute with bread crumbs (small diced pieces) in butter.
How's that for a vague recipe! Gotta love those old German cooks. I will post the recipe properly later on when I have time to make it and rewrite it. In the meantime, you can probably figure it out well enough to make it. You are on your own for the butter/cream sauce.
Let me know how they turn out when you make them.

You are welcome.....I'm happy to share! Does that sound like the right recipe that your mother used to make? (minus the cream?)

You are welcome.........I'm glad it worked out so well for you. So, just out of curiousity, what did you tweak?

I added sauteed bread "chunks" instead of crumbs and used the regular cottage cheese (I know that is how my mom made them, makes the sauce thicker from broken ones I think), then boiled them in water. Next I transferred them to the butter/cream mixture. Not so different than what you described. But boy were they good. I made an extra big batch to freeze. I have given some to friends and they either love it, or hate it....no in between!! LOL
