I am trying to come up with a recipe that combines dau miu (pea shoots) bean sprouts and mushrooms, in a Chinese-style dish. I have made it a couple times, but I can't get the sauce quite right. Any suggestions? I've been using garlic, ginger, soy sauce, chicken stock and a little arrowroot to thicken.

The last picture in this thread is of my latest effort, if that's helpful.

Jenny, those veggies already look really good....if you're trying to jazz up the sauce a bit, you might try adding a tablespoon, or so, of sugar and perhaps the same amount of cornstarch. I've never used arrowroot to thicken a sauce so can't comment on that.

why don't you try adding some oyster sauce or hoisin sauce to add more flavor? or you can add some spicy chili sauce if you like it hot. the photos are lovely.

maybe spike it with some Shaoxing wine? Love that stuff in my stir-fries.
