You will never believe this. I found by chance the recipe here on Zaar. At least I think so. I hope you still follow this thread. I will post it in the "Request a Recipe" forum again as well.

hey thanks! this is super close to what we had, but instead of cutting the dough into strips, it was rolled up so there are lots of layers. otherwise, this seems to be the closest recipe found!

I would like the recipe (soft form of kolache) from the lady from Kernei. My grandparents were from Kernei, but they are gone now and I am trying to put together a cook book from that area, I am forgeting a lot of the stuff she used to cook for us. So, if it isn't to much trouble I would like the recipe. Thanks

Hello I have not been on here in a while and I am not sure when I can get back because I am baking alot right now. Depending on which recipe you are looking for if you have not already come across it. My mother has one from near the area you speak of. My BIL is from Kernei. And the rest of my family from the surrounding areas. I am sure the recipes do not vary that drastically. I know the kolache she makes is a softer dough, however it all needs to be weighed on a scale. It is not in cups. I would also be interested in seeing your cookbook should you complete one from that area, especially since that is where my ancestors came from and I am the first American to this country. Thank you.
