I recent picked up a loaf of rye and pumpernickle bread at the store, and I can tell I just make become addicted to it. So I thought I would come on here and search for a recipe for it, strangley enought, there wasn't one. So I searched for pumpernickle, found a recipe, and then searched for rye, no luck, it's one of those dreaded "three letter" words. I don't want to wade through all the bread recipes, so if any of you have a rye bread recipe that you would like to pimp, post it here. Or even better a rye and pump bread recipe. TIA

Here's mine Rye Buttermilk Bread This was a RSC contest entry. Now I usually take it out after the dough cycle & bake in the oven at 350 degrees. I have also subbed the fresh sage with 1/2 the amount of dried.

Raisin Pumpernickel Bread #42628 by Sharon123 is a wonderful bread. The timing (rising, etc.) is a bit lengthy, but well worth it. You could easily omit the raisins, if they don't float your boat.

There is a way to get around the 3-letter-bug, at least when using the ingredient search... search with another non-3 letter word. So, rather than rye, search for rye flour. HTH!

Ooh! Rye bread is my favorite!! I've bought some flour but haven't tried it yet. No one else in the family likes it so I need to make it sometime when I know I can eat a whole lot of bread by myself in a few days.

This is the recipe that I've been meaning to try again. First time I made it my yeast was dead (which I suspected but was too lazy to check ). The taste was good, it just didn't rise much.
Plan on getting more rye flour to try it

I just made this bread and it's wonderful. If you do plan on making it, take a look at my review which should post in the next few days.

This is the one that my dad made for years. It's my favorite bread of all time, as it was for many other people. I've adapted it to use all whole grains, but it still tastes the same.

Hey, Sly Girl. You didn't mention if the rye bread recipe you wanted was for a bread machine, or not. Tonkats has one here on 'Zaar that is for a bm, but, you could make it in the oven, I guess. It turned out pretty good for me. Pumpernickel Bread
I hope you enjoy your AF Retirement as much as I have enjoyed mine. I got out in Dec '77
