If you ever get the cookie sign-in bug...

Many of you have run into the infamous "cookie sign-in" bug. We are still unable to figure out exactly why it happens and it is difficult to reproduce it here.

So if you ever see it again and you have a few minutes to work with us, please send mail to immediately and don't fix it manually.... we'd appreciate being able to quickly diagnose a case while it is happening.

Hasn't happened recently to me, but I know that following a link off of hotmail will screw up a cookie for that site (any site, including recipezaar.)

    IE6, w2k pro.

Yes, this is because Hotmail keeps that "You are visiting a site outside of Hotmail" banner at the top, so the browser thinks you are still at Hotmail and doesn't send the cookies to the site as it normally would (you'll notice the URL is not the URL of the site you think you're at).

The best thing to do when using Hotmail is to copy the URL, open a new browser window and paste the URL into the Address bar.

Hasn't happened recently to me either, (touch wood). It's sure a nuisance when it does though, when I manually delete the cookies, I have to start all over again 'registering' for a couple of sites that I use a lot of.
And can't get in to anything at 'zaar. Will e mail you though if I do have the prob again.

By the way, you don't need to delete ALL your cookies, just the ones with "recipezaar" in the title. That should only be 1 or 2 files.

If you don't delete ALL your cookies, you won't have to re-register with other sites.

Even when you try to open a link in hotmail with right click-> open in new window, it still screws up. You actually have to highlight the text, copy, and paste.

I think the only time I've gotten the bug is if I've just been using hotmail.
