Looks like it grew too fast at some point, I had a couple of cucumbers that developed cracks like that after some hot weather coupled with rain.

Might not be far wrong as our weather patterns have been weird - our winter was more like spring/summer and as we entered spring the rains came bucketing down (we got more in the first 2 weeks than we got all winter) and since then the rain has been every now and then with some fine days like today.
