I love, love, love the white glaze! It pulls all the components together beautifully and the pop of the red handles is so cool.

Whew! I'm glad someone likes the white glaze besides me. I was worried that it was going to be TOO white and end up looking like the whitewash of the 1990s. I think it's perfect.

Also I had not noticed the tiny bit of tan in the countertops until I had a larger sample. I'm glad the specs are there because it will pull in the wood tones.

Now to get the appliances ordered. icon_cool.gif

I am getting ready for a remodel in my kitchen too. I hope I live through it. The power wheelchair is he** on cabinets, etc. A few years ago we had a leak in the kitchen and it ruined my beloved laminate floor. I had the same color floor throughout the house. They don't make that color anymore. So, I went with tile. The under-floor is not stable enough for the big tiles I put in so the grout keeps popping out and now some of the tiles are loose. Add to that, a giant crease in the middle of my refrigerator where How-weird (my hubby) turned too close with his wheelchair and dented my fridge! I also have gouges and scratches in the cabinets, so it's time.

I am going to get a fridge that's not quite so large and a new dishwasher. I hate mine. Even though it's only 10 years old (that's when we built the house), I have to rinse the dishes or they don't come clean. I love my stove but I'm debating on whether to replace it anyway. It's a Sears, glass top electric. I'm just worried that if I don't replace it, something will go wrong with it and then I'll have to replace it a year or two from now.

Some of the features of my kitchen I love. I have big drawers instead of lower cabinets and I have cabinet doors on the backside of the bar where I store the dishes. That makes them closer to the breakfast nook. I also have some glass front upper cabinets and I like them. My paint is a dark, barn red and I'm still in love with the color.

I hate where my dishwasher is. It was not supposed to be there but my husband and the cabinet man decided it was cheaper to put the sink and dishwasher where they are. icon_mad.gif I'm going to look into moving them just several inches. Wonder what that will cost.

    Watching and reading with interest!

jneen, start planning early! Contractors are getting busy. Years ago I had a Sears smooth top stove, I loved that stove. SO easy to clean! Since that time I've gotten used to cooking on gas. Also the house isn't wired for an electric stove. This house didn't have decent appliances or I wouldn't be replacing them.

A dishwasher that actually CLEANS the dishes is the top of my list! I am through with rinsing and a dishwasher that leaves the dishes dirty.

I'm off to the appliance store! GE has a $500 rebate that ends today and the store will hold delivery until I need the appliances. Gotta love local businesses!!! icon_cool.gif

P.S. jneen, cost for moving your appliances would depend on several factors. I'm on a concrete slab so no moving for me.

Thanks, K9! I am very excited about the range and "microwave". A little worried about the French door fridge but Sweetie thought he HAD to have that one. Really should have known better than to take him with me. icon_rolleyes.gif

The dishwasher is a new model but looks like this one

While I was there I went ahead and ordered a Speed Queen washing machine. I'm OVER the energy saving, front loading, doesn't get my clothes clean machine I am currently using! icon_cool.gif

I have a speed queen washing machine too!! icon_biggrin.gif I bought it a couple of years ago. Like you, I am so over the frontload machines with the little dab of water washing my clothes. I had what I thought was a very good front load washer too. I want my clothes washed, not baptized! I love my speed queen. It never gets out of balance when it spins, the clothes are cleaner and fresher, and it doesn't just slop the clothes around slowly in a drop of washes/worsh/warsh (depending on where you are from icon_smile.gif ) the clothes using the old fashion agitator . icon_cool.gif

Olive, I am SO glad to hear from someone who has the Speed Queen. In addition to everything you said about the front loaders, I'm tired of emptying the pump, wiping out the rubber gasket and still having a smelly washer. I flat out love the simplicity of the Speed Queen. A couple of knobs and good to go! No fancy electronic panels to short out or a zillion cycles I'll never use. I'm trying to talk Sweetie into picking it up this weekend instead of waiting for it to be delivered with the rest of the appliances. icon_cool.gif

Hooray! What is the estimated time line for completion? It is hard to be without a kitchen! I hope you get to take a swing at something! icon_cool.gif

A couple of weeks for completion. I'm hoping for a sink and fridge in less than a week. If not, I may have to go spend next weekend at the beach! icon_lol.gif

First obstacle. Not even two hours into the project and black mold was discovered behind the sink cabinet. The good news is, it is a relatively cheap fix with the cabinets out. Also while that portion of the wall is open, it will be easier to run the line for the built in coffee pot. icon_smile.gif

Yea! The time has finally come. icon_cool.gif I'm so glad your first obstacle is an easy fix! I can't wait to see the's a heck of a lot better than watching HGTV. icon_biggrin.gif
