Recipe Reader, I am impressed that even in the summer heat you remain determined to walk daily!! I hope you find you lost weight this month.
I am feeling better today. Yesterday was a rough day. We have been having heat plus major humidity. We have had about 13 inches of rain in July which is double our average. Some of the lakes and ponds are about to flood. I couldn't get warm yesterday and had hours with an inability to talk. It is kind of sad that while I barely could talk a friend who just moved in CA called and wanted to chat. I quickly got off the phone. I have neither her phone number or new e-mail address so I am kind of unable to reach out to her.

Tasb, we're enjoying fresh fruit here as well. I don't do anything with it except just eat it. But we've had really good strawberries, blackberries, peaches, nectarines, and plums. I hope your shoulder is doing better!
I couldn't wait any longer to weigh, and I did lose this month! I'm not stuck anymore. I lost 2 1/2 pounds.

Hey everyone, I have been lurking, just not posting as I have been on my phone.
Jacqueline, good for you getting the lawns done. I ran out of gas for my mower last week and when I went to get some the store had no debit machines working so I decided to wait, and haven't gone back. Should soon though my grass is growing and the walkways in the garden where I didn't mow are too scary to walk in. What a busy time you had recently with your dinner and traveling. Hope you got lots of rest. Too bad the weight you lost came back.
Laury, don't worry about not being able to exercise and gaining a few pounds. I think your Dr. will understand that you gained too and will probably remind you that you shouldn't be doing your walks if you can't breath. Get lots of rest. Keep listening to Tom, he seems to know what is best for you, even if you don't believe it. I hope you can reconnect with your friend soon, too bad you couldn't talk to her.
Recipe Reader, lucky you, keeping up your walks. I live out in the bush so there is no walking for me. I tried to get the kids walking with me last year, but it gets too hot too early for us to go out, plus I just don't want to exercise. WTG losing 1 1/2 lbs.

Me, I am too scared to get on the scale right now. I haven't been eating well, I may have fresh fruit but you can make desserts with it. I have been doing small household chores everyday, to make up for the fact me and the kids head to the beach every afternoon this week. I did get some canning done as our apricot tree is starting to ripen. But I am not really making a dent in the tree so far. It is fully loaded this year, but it seems not to be growing anything every second year so I guess this makes up for it.
This week me and the kids, I have them helping me pick and wash apricots as "payment" for going swimming. They also filled up the dehydrator the second time and filled a cookie sheet with halves for freezing.
We did: 11 pints Apricot Nectar/Juice with less pulp
8 half pints Apricot Jam
2 dehydrators filled with halves (got about 1/2 gallon dried)
1 cookie sheet frozen
1 Blueberry Buckle for desserts
I froze blueberries and made Blueberry Jam last week too, I picked up another 15 lbs last weekend, so 25 lbs total this year.
Still wishing for strawberries but it looks like there is going to be no late season berries this year, so I might have to go with store bought. Plus right now I have to stop spending so much I still haven't gotten any un-employment checks from the government as of yet, I should get $400 next week but that is it for another 2 weeks. Thankfully hubby is working right now, so things aren't as tight as they were a few years ago. I have 1 month left before I head back to work.

tasb, it's wonderful that you have enough energy to cook and process as much as you have!! I wonder if your exercising during the school year helps keep your energy up so you can keep going and doing.
It is also tremendous that your husband has an income now so you don't just rely on unemployment!!
I have calmed myself down quite a bit. There is something going on in my lungs which is not good. My first lung doctor didn't act like it was anything major so I stayed calm. This lung doctor is alarmed and letting me know that it has to be taken care of. It has to stop. My friend who called when I had no voice has called several times since then. I have been trying to convince her that talking once or twice a week I can handle. She is calling almost daily and there is hardly ever something to report. Hopefully she will learn soon.

I think all the standing I do helps me with all the preserving I do. Since I do stand at work for most of the day. I can't do much of my preserving sitting at the table I stand at the counter. I find the only times I will sit is when I am loading cookie sheets to go to the freezer or filling the dehydrator trays. Mainly because I have more room at the table for spreading things out. But when canning I just stay at the counter because everything is right there.
After posting I went outside to check my apricot tree. There was lots on the ground so lucky I had my buckets with me. I raked up under the tree and picked 5 ice cream pails full. Came in started dinner and washing apricots. I was able to fill the dehydrator while I was waiting on the rice to cook. After eating I started on making Apricot Juice. I ended up with 12 pints of juice. It was about 4 1/2 hours from start to finish. Not bad at all. Considering I sat around all day, going on my computer and doing some cross stitching.

Tasb as I always say you amaze me. I use to have apple trees and they only seemed to produce a lot about every other year. I had them cut down after my dad passed away, I must stay I don't miss them and guess I am really glad that I did since I have turned up allergic to bees. We had my sister's apple and pear trees cut down last week, they were just not making a pretty tree, but then she never took care of them either, plan on having her peach tree cut as soon as it bears. I dread the black walnuts, my tree appears to be full and I have to pick them up before I can mow, as I did with the apples. I will not cut the black walnut tree although I do cut all the smaller ones that come up each year. My grapes will be in soon, but I don't do anything with them, other than eat them off the vines. When you live alone you just don't have the need for all these things. I do plant a few tomato plants and pepper plants in pots but only enough for my personal use.
Laury, try not to worry about things happening with your health, although I know it is easier said than done. At least this doctor wants to get to the bottom of it and isn't going to just let it go. I wish my mother had had a proactive doctor when she was alive, she might still be with me.
I have lost a little over 2 lbs now and I think if I can maintain my current eating plan it will stay off, plus lose more. I have no junk food in my house, well I am sure there is some, some place but I'd have to look for it. I know my doctor wouldn't like my current plan but if I can lose weight with it I am happy and maybe she will be too. I just can't make it on two protein drinks and one meal a day. So I am doing two protein drinks and two meals and seem to be doing fine. Rarely do I go over 1200 calories and most time not 1000, so I am happy about that. I honestly don't think I was getting enough calories and I was holding on to my weight.
Don't know how the weather is where you are but it got down in the forties here last night and temp outside is like 69 degrees F. Seems much more like Fall than Summer but that is fine with me.
Tomorrow will be grass day and I hope the temps remain low until after that is done.

tasb, all the bending and stretching to pick the apricots is exercise. Then standing to do most of the preserving is more exercise. Naturally you are getting a lot of exercise in. I am impressed!!
Jacqueline, as long as you are losing weight, I think that you are doing good.
I agree that this doctor is a big improvement over my first lung doctor. I am glad that we are investigating what is going on. It has been much too long. I see my doctor, my regular doctor, tomorrow morning and hope all will be okay there. Our weather is very hot with lots of rain. Here, though, that can be any season.

Warmed up a little today and suppose to start raining tonight and get warmer. Humidity is all I can say and I hate it. Becky and I both got our grass mowed today, of course we help each other. Glad that is over for the week. Lost 4 oz this morning but I try to only count pounds. I have started logging my food on my fitness pal again and it does help to keep up with things. Plus when I think I need something to eat I get a cup of ice and eat it. That has helped lower the carbs and the bad behavior, food wise.
Laury you sound like you are doing better, I certainly hope so.

Jacqueline, the trick of eating ice is a good idea when you want to eat even if you are not hungry.
I went to the doctor this morning and told her what has been going on. The lung doctor doesn't send her any information. He just posts it online in my account. She has never gone to check it out. I explained and she understands. She agrees until I am doing much better there is to be no exercise. I am thrilled! My blood pressure was 121/62 and she is pleased. I will continue on as is.
