    Spring cleaning?

Now that the snow has melted....I'm in the process of changing out the kitchen and breakfast linens and etc.
Does anyone else do this? Yesterday (30% off coupon) I did a little damage at KOHLS lol. I love new towels place mats, table runners icon_smile.gif
I went with all different colors (mostly primary) Because I use my Fiesta Ware dishes all summer. I have 14 place settings each a different color ...I know a little weird huh?
It's sooo nice to have the winter dishes put away rotfl.gif

I don't change out my dishes. I do change tablecloths to brighter and lighter colors and if I used placemats these days I'd change them, too. My table is a junk catcher though, I rarely ever sit at it and eat.

It's rare when we sit at a table too. Holidays...and Company are just about the only reason to clear the mail and etc off the table rotfl.gif

My dishes are a basic off-white so I don't change them, but LOVE to use different colors, Spring I gravitate to pale yellows, summer I enjoy brighter bold colors maybe orange, and winter darker muted colors. Every Spring it seems like I get that nesting urge and start browsing the home stores looking for new trim after all once you get that special cleaning done - it just looks better with new linen icon_lol.gif icon_cool.gif

Okay,,,,,,,,now I know why I am 72 yrs. old. I am lucky to get the dishes washed and on the table. I do change the place mats from Christmas to spring or summer,,,,,, but since I don't do a lot of entertaining anymore, I just check to see if they are clean. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_redface.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
Of course on holidays, I do set the table with a cloth and my china or other good dishes (isn't it a shame I don't use it more often?), but with just the three of us......why bother? Guess I am in a bad routine........should get some "pep-in-my-step" and get more excited about this, but that will be after I have the energy to keep my floors sparkling clean every day ! Ha.
I guess I've just lost a bit of energy from when I was in my 20's and 30's.
Don't mean to be a "downer", but all that work just seems to be a bit much now. (Am I the only one?)
Of course I'm still thinking of spring cleaning.........but may take me till fall !

Like you, I have lots of different colors in Fiesta dinnerware. I tend to chose colors based on the color of food but also seasonal. I also set the table with different colors mixed together. Lots of fun! DH always loved the bright colors.

Donnie, I am on my way to where you are!

The hardest thing for me to accept is that I still WANT the beautiful stuff in home decor shops -- but I do not NEED it!! And who can waste money, buying more stuff than they actually need? So ... join the oldies club! icon_wink.gif

We do not entertain as we used to do, because all our friends are retired and living in various other places in South Africa. And at a certain age you simply do not make the same intimate friends any more where you live now, because you do not have a history in common. icon_sad.gif

So I walk through the home decor stores, wanting to chuck out what I have and start all over with the gorgeous stuff available today ... and realise that it would be a waste of money. (With so much help and money needed in South Africa for the not-haves, I now have only one extra blanket left per bed, apart from the duvets, because I've given away all extras to people in need after heavy rains, floods, that kind of thing).

Zuri, you are a kind soul. I have so much packed away...(for when I might need something, you know) that I am beginning to feel like a hoarder.
Most of it belonged to our children or was inherited and I just "keep on keeping". A few years ago my daughter came over and made me throw away a set of encyclopedias.....and they were only 40 years old icon_rolleyes.gif icon_redface.gif
I guess I will have to bite the bullet and start digging soon.
Since it's 118 degrees here in Az. will have to wait a bit longer now.

I've started on the same path as Zurie, so many extras that I just have to store. Even when it comes to sheets for the bed, I pretty much only have one extra set as a back up and just wash and return the ones that are on the beds (saves folding and storage) and replace them when they wear out. But other things cannot bring myself to get rid of - like my holiday plates that I've probably only used once or twice in all the years I've had them as it's so much trouble to unpack, wash, use and repack
