I am trying to find a chocolate cookie recipe from the early 1960's that were served in the Los Angeles School District. I attended Rio Vista Grammar School in North Hollywood.

These were large chocolate cookies that were very gooey (served hot) and they seem as if they were flourless (but not sure).

I saw one recipe on line, which was in the school system, but it was made with oats and I am pretty sure this didn't have oats due to the very gooey inside.

If anyone knows the recipe - I would be so thankful.

I don't have your answer.. but I have an elementary school cafeteria ha ha.

When our son was in first grade.. he came home from school and told me that I had to get the milk they had at school....I was a little surprised...and thought that since we drank skim milk at home.. perhaps it was whole milk that got him so excited... Turns out after trial and error.. all he wanted was 2%! That was 27 years ago and it still makes me smile...

Have a look at the death by chocolate cookie recipe. One of the commenters' said that it was just like the cookies served at her school.
