    First Beach Trip

After taking 2 days off last week, I went into the office today and dealt with a ridiculous pile of crap that apparently NOBODY ELSE in the entire world can deal with. icon_rolleyes.gif

So, by 3:00 I had HAD ENOUGH and left.

Came home, changed my clothes, and took The Jar to the beach.

He had an excellent time! He stayed fairly calm in the car - when he started getting jerky (standing up, yipping) I told him to sit, and (eventually) he did.

When we got to the lake, he was SO SO SO excited! He zoomed back and forth, sniffing everything, looking for JUST THE RIGHT tree to pee on . . . then we went down to the water, and he knew it was time - he started hopping around, turned around, looked at me, and . . . I didn't have the ball flinger.

I didn't want to work him too hard on his first trip of the year, plus I didn't know how cold the water would be out that far, so I just planned to throw like the girl that I am.

Well, he had a moment of confusion, then he started nosing in my pockets until I pulled it out. (The ball, I mean.) icon_biggrin.gif

He was so excellent - when I told him to SIT and WAIT, he did.

When I told him to DROP IT (the ball) he did.

He even LEAVE IT 'ed the couple of dead fish that were washed up on shore. (The beach isn't officially open until Memorial Day, so I guess they haven't started maintaining it yet. icon_confused.gif )

He didn't even shake all over the couple who were lying there sunbathing. rotfl.gif

And when I told him to "stop scaring that man" he did that, too. icon_lol.gif

All told, we were there about 15 minutes, then he was done and ready to go home. It's a good thing we only live 10 minutes away, huh?

He's SUCH an excellent boy. icon_smile.gif

You and Jar are both so lucky to have each other plus being ten minutes from a beach. Awesome.

    Good Jarly!
So cool to be able to take him to the beach!
My BF lives in Vancouver - White Rock actually and takes her dog there a few times a week. I have always been jealous. 7 weeks from now we will be 5 minutes away from a dog beach and I am soooo looking forward to it! Maddy will be pissed because she will have to stay at home. She hates water - even puddles and will not do well in an off leash environment. I'm especially thrilled at the possibility of exhausting Dawson. A few minutes of peace and quiet would be awesome.

Speaking of awesome...Leaving the fish is pretty huge. icon_cool.gif

    Thanks. icon_smile.gif

And about the fish - I'd say that I'm not even sure he noticed them, but really, they were dead fish - how could he miss them? icon_confused.gif

No kidding - they had to be at least as smelly as the squirrel jerky. He did good.
