Stove Top Baked Beans from Scratch

    Hi Everyone!

I just got this put together and I'm wondering if it's supposed to be covered while it simmers for the next 4 hours?

There is a LOT of liquid, so I'm guessing NOT, but you are more the pros here...

    Thanks in advance!

I would cover the pot. You are using soaked but not cooked beans, and they will absorb part of the liquid. If you think it's still too liquidy, you can uncover for the last 30 minutes or so. I tend to get distracted when I have something like this on the stove, and it's better to have it be too liquid, which you can fix, then to burn, which you cannot.

I would cook it uncovered; that's how I read the recipe. You can always add water if it gets too thick.

Thank you so much duonyte! I just threw the cover on the pot. You're so right about the whole burning thing...Why didn't I think of that?!

You always have such good advice!

I'll let you know how it turns out.

I have always cooked beans covered, whether baked or cooked on top of the stove.
