I had like 75 of them saved and they are ALL gone. I am very annoyed.

Nothing is gone, but there was a redesign. Just hover over or click the blue box to the right of your icon. A box will open with all your personal stuff. Your cookbooks will be listed in the left hand column.

I too am having problems with accessing and saving recipes/cookbooks.
    1. I was able to create cookbook names and click on those cookbooks to save recipes I discovered on the site. However my cookbook under my name always showed "0" recipes and none of the cookbook categories I created. The only way to get to the saved recipes was in my journal, which were listed in date order of when saved; frustrating but at least they were somewhere.
    2. Reading your recent post I hovered over the blue arrow next to my name/pic and my cookbooks were actually listed and showed the number of recipes saved to each, Woohoo! Alas, this turned out to be just an index of my cookbooks because I can't access any recipes from there. Is this a computer error or my error?
    3. Now, for the past 3-4 days, I can't save recipes at all, by any method.
Background info you may need to help: I have only been a member since early Feb and have only seen the food.com website. I have also only used my iPad with safari browser. Please help -I like this site a lot and would like to be able to use it effectively

based on posts by others, it looks like iPad is the common factor

On your About Me page, when it says 0 under Cookbooks, it means you have no public cookbooks.

This is an issue with saving recipes from iPad, but should work fine from a computer. We have reported and the team is working on.

As for unable to access the recipes from your cookbook, what happens specifically when you try? Are you able to pull up a certain cookbook and see the list of recipes but not able to pull up the individual recipe?

Thanks for the quick reply - will await the fix for saving recipes on iPad.
As far as the viewing of recipes - I went & tested all of the cookbooks.-
I am able to see the recipes in "my main cookbook" and 2 of my other 6 cookbook categories. I am also able to click on the recipes and pull them up in those 2 cookbooks whereI can see the list.
When I click on those other 4 cookbooks, I get the "500 internal error message" on an otherwise blank page.
When I click on "all cookbooks" I see all the folders of the cookbooks; but cannot open/ see recipes in the same 4 cookbooks. I can see the recipes in the others like mentioned above.
I will login in via computer later and see what works that way.

Reply part 2: logged in on my computer instead of iPad.
Now able to view and open all recipes from all of my named cookbooks when use computer or iPad.
I am able to save new recipes from the computer.
Alas, I'm still unable to save new ones from my iPad which is what I use 99.9% of the time. Please ask them to fix iPad user issues as quickly as they can.

The team is working on the saving recipes issue from iPad.

So to clarify, you are no longer getting a 500 error when trying to access any of your cookbooks from your iPad? If you are, please let us know which ones those are and if they are private or public.

As of yesterday I was able to see all named cookbooks on the far left side of the fly out when click on blue arrow next to name icon and open any of the recipes submitted by others that I had saved there - that was using both computer and iPad once I had logged in using he computer.

Today I cannot open any of the cookbooks or recipes saved there. That is with using my iPad and i get the "500" error. Haven't bothered with the computer - I don't have enough time to deal with it all again today.

For clarification, I am referring to the recipes saved on the left side labeled my cookbooks. I haven't tried to put in any of my own recipes which I assume is what would be designated as private or public cookbooks/ recipes for fear of losing them at is time.

    Hi Duonyte-
I appreciate you trying to help. Unfortunately, I am fully aware of the iPad issues. My replies have been in answer to specific questions asked by Mary at Food.com; posed I'm assuming in order to not only help me but in order to gather more info for "the team" to help come up with a fix for all iPad users.
Otherwise I wouldn't still be posting; they're aware of the problem - so no sense in complaining. My fingers are crossed that the issues will be fixed soon.
In the meantime, I'm taking photos of the recipes in full screen that I want to try and then can save them later when all is fixed - it's a workable solution for now.

There are issues with saving recipes to cookbooks on the iPad and the team is looking into. But, there isn't an issue accessing cookbooks from the iPad. You should be able to do that. If you are experiencing 500 errors, please try emptying your cache and deleting your cookies, then exit and come back in.

    Hi Mary,
Sorry haven't tried to save any recipes or look at my cookbooks until today.
Thank you and the team so much!
I didn't do anything and now everything is working just fine from my iPad.
Just saved 2 recipes, one with private note, accessed recipes in my cookbooks, and accessed recipe in a different cookbook.
Now "we're cooking with gas," so to speak.
Thank goodness too, cause even though I'm a pretty sufficient computer user, I've never really understood cache and cookies (unless they're baked with chocolate chips). Just how does one go about emptying their cache and deleting their cookies, in case I need to in the future? Is this something that you recommend we do from time to time even if things are working okay?

Glad things are working for you now Cooking chaos. We suggest deleting cookies and cache to refresh your computer's history in hopes that it doesn't "remember" the problem you were having previously. It's always good to do this from time to time but especially if you are experiencing any issues on the site! Here is a good page at the link below to explain how to do this.
