: I'm looking for the recipe Paula Deen uses making cakes with a box cake mix, replacing the water with milk. Not sure if there are any other changes to it. It is supposed to have a better texture to the finished cake.
    Thanks : icon_smile.gif

I found the following quote from Paula Deen: "The only thing I do differently with all my cake mixes is to use buttermilk in place of the water."

    Hope that helps icon_smile.gif

The quote comes from a Paula Deen interview in a magazine - sorry, cant tell you which mag, I did not save the whole article, only cut out a small portion of it. icon_confused.gif

Other cake mix "tricks" (collected over the decades by me from numerous assorted sources)

    - Add an extra egg (or add two extra eggs if you want it to be really rich)

    - Double the oil amount, but use melted butter instead of the oil

    - Replace the amount of water on the box directions with milk
    ----------------------------------------------------
    - Add a box (4 serving size) of instant pudding mix powder to the dry cake mix (use whatever flavor works with the flavor cake mix you are using).
    ---------------------------------------------------
    - Substitute 1/2 to 2/3 the amount of oil with unsweetened applesauce to cut the calories/fat in the cake
    ---------------------------------------------------
    - Add 1 cup of sour cream or 1 cup of plain yogurt with all the other ingredients on the box.

Thank you once again for sharing...This was great! I also replace the water in any chocolate recipe with "coffee" to bring out the flavor in the chocolate!!! Once again big thanks! icon_biggrin.gif [/img]
