This might be a good thing to sticky!
It is a very popular thread. We like to keep stickies to a minimum because people tend not to 'see' them after a while but I'll sticky this until it goes for a few weeks or a month without a post. I'll give you all a 'heads up' if/when it will be unstickied so you can all bookmark it.

I really like the "whodunit" shows from England, such as "Wire in the Blood", "Inspector Lewis", and "Midsomer Murders", although I have to have the captions on most of the time.

I would like to thank you all for the wonderful recommendations for Netflix! To thank you I will add my 2 cents:
Lark Rise to Candleford
Little Dorrit
Poirot
Rosemary & Thyme
All Creatures Great & Small
Balleykissangel
Coco Before Chanel
Food Inc
Fat Sick and Nearly Dead
Inspector Morse
Inspector Lewis
Monarch of the Glen
Touch of Frost
Foyle's War
Miss Marple
Kavanagh Q.C.
Inspector Lynley
The Last Detective
Hamish MacBeth
Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont
Hetty Wainthropp Investigates
Not all are available on instant streaming but are available on DVD.- one way or the other, all are wonderful if you are able to find them - so good I am ready to make my second go 'round. All Creatures Great & Small was made in the '70's I believe but wonderful stories!! Hamish MacBeth is with Robert Carlyle (The Full Monte) and is so funny. It takes a while to understand the Scottish dialect and humor - trust me it is worth the effort!
Hope you will find something new to enjoy

The Scots are the hardest for me to understand! To add to that list, (some may be repeats!):
Taggart
Touching Evil
Inspector Alleyn Mysteries
Campion
Prime Suspect
Waking the Dead
DNA
George Gently
Cracker
Luther
Rebus
And I watched Owd Bob (another one about dogs) with beautiful scenery on the Isle of Man ~

I love being able to watch BBC shows so easily on Netflix. Sherlock, Doctor Who, The IT Crowd. It's affecting my vocabulary now -- playing Words with Friends with my sister in law, I end up using words like quid or snog, and she's like
DH and I watch Burn Notice, and just recently started Reaper. Waiting for new episodes of Warehouse 13 and Fringe to show up.

Just started watching Deception on Hulu - it's really good. Am on the second season of McCleod's Daughters on Netflix. Super good.

Just finished watching the movie The Pianist with Adrian Brody. What a wonderful movie. Only 2 or 3 others on Netflix have I given all 5 stars, but I sure did this one.
It was Rosemary's Baby last night. While I got a kick out of it, it sure wasn't as creepy as I found it back in the late 60's.

On Netflix streaming, I'm watching The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and my heart is aching!

I'm enjoying McCleod's Daughters, too. It is a chick flick series filled full of estrogen. Therefore, I deny that I have ever seen an episode to protect my manly reputation.

Even though I don't normally care for political stuff, I am enjoying the House of Cards series with Kevin Spacey.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is in my queue to watch again. I saw it a couple years ago and think it's worth watching again. Very moving.

Yep. I love that show. Dark and odd but strangely funny.
I watched the first two episodes a few days ago and after I catch on some silly Hulu+ sitcoms I'm behind on in my queue... I'm gonna have a serious House of Cards marathon and watch the entire series back to back this weekend.

I'm gonna watch From Dusk Til Dawn after I eat. It expires on Netflix 3/1/2013 and I haven't seen it in several years.
I love anything Quentin Tarantino does. I think he's brilliant.

While I can't claim that I read through this entire thread, I have some questions. Just got a Galaxy Tab and would like to watch selected TV shows. We already have Netflix for home TV viewing ~ can I add my pad to that account (sorry for idiot question, Mark does all this stuff for me). My pad is constantly asking me to sign up for a free week of Hulu, so suggestions please on which way to go. Any recommendations for the device challenged would be appreciated ~ I just want it to work, with the best service, for least amount of thinking (and cost too, of course).
Oh and btw ~ we adore Breaking Bad, and I can't believe no one has mentioned Shameless

I'm Shameless! I've watched every episode of the Shameless UK version on Netflix streaming, and enjoyed it, but don't believe it's everyone's cup of tea! I've never watched the Shameless US version!
