Contest Suggestions Please!
We'd like your ideas for our community contests. Consider this a brainstorming session. Let's keep all comments positive and let the ideas flow. No idea is too wild at this point. We can narrow it down to the best suggestions later.
We've offered three community contests in the past.
1. RSC, as we all know "grew up" and is now a sponsored contest. RSC was our general contest. We have the opportunity to replace it with something new. What sounds fun? What would y[quoteou call it?
Pantry Raiders
2. Dining on a Dollar features a must use ingredient and tries to be budget friendly. Most of the ingredients on the contest list are also pantry staples. Past must use ingredients have been: ramen noodles, cans of beans, zuchinni, & now ketchup. What would make a good "must use" ingredient.
Powdered Milk
3. Category Craze-E challenges us to create recipes within an assigned category. Past categories have included: crockpot, soup & sandwiches, salads, party food, and gifts from your kitchen. What categories would you like to see in a contest?
Wedding dishes, Brunch ideas and Homemade Bath Products
4. Other suggestions?
How about a contest where we all make Cake ....If it was good enough for Marie Antoniette .... Let them eat cake..... sounds yummy to me

I like the name Pantry Raiders..... imagine the fun you could get into.
Raiding someones pantry..... yummm Choosing items randomly and creating a recipe for a category to be determined by someone else ... with a surprise ingredient...to be used in each and every recipe submitted.
Must have been a pirate at some time....

I like this Pantry Raider idea, but it sounds more like a tag game to me.

Oh... I just got it Baby Kato... duh!!!... Raiding someones pantry who's on this site. I thought, literally, you were referring to a next door neighbor! LOL.
I like Rita's idea of smoker recipes...aka: "Smoker Stand-off". LOL. Or even my own "Cook your Cocktail" idea. No matter what it ends up being, I'm sure it'll be fun!

I think the pantry raid idea might be implemented by asking several of our regular participants to send in a list of items. Rosie's list of pantry ingredients would be different than threeoven's or Sue's or Rita's or Jube's. We would post the lists on reveal day and each chef would then select one of the lists to work from when creating their entries.

Oh gosh... NO ONE would select my pantry ingredients... I haven't been shopping in over a week and I have a huge, (almost out-dated) surplus to use up (some that I don't even eat, but the family does). My pantry would certainly be a challenge (even for a celebrity-style chef)!
Sign me up... LOL

Susie: Are you hosting this next contest (when you figure out what it will be)? If so, I will PM you what is in my pantry since it needs to be a secret, that is if you decide to go with Baby Kato's idea for "Pantry Picks". Let us know what you "elves" have in mind. I just checked my cupboards... pretty bare, and only crappy stuff! A true challenge. LOL

I like the idea of a holiday themes recipe making contest. It would be especially good if two or more holidays are occuring at the same time (like Hanukkah/Christmas/Kwanzaa or Passover/Easter), so that the chefs could be doubly inspired.
As for Category Craz-E contest, maybe something seasonal. I get in the mood for bbq food when the summer comes along.
