Does anyone have his recipe? I've used one before that was, at least, attributed to him, but I can't locate it. Many thanks!

I googled it and came up with sloppy joes for so many Food Network cooks but not Alton Brown. Hopefully someone will be able to help you out in a few.

I found this one which is attributed to him. It's called loose meat, but the article says that is pretty similar to Sloppy Joes

Loose meat sandwiches are similar to sloppy joes only in their texture. The seasoning is very different.

WAY different! I make these all the time. No BBQ type sauce on Loose Meat.

Thanks very much for all the suggestions. I've seen those other recipes, but unfortunately they aren't the one I'm looking for. It was super simple and way better than the can! Ah, well...the casualties of moving. If I come across it, I'll be sure to post it.

Sorry we couldn't find it for you,
Kid Friendly Sloppy Joes ("no Green Stuff") if you're looking for simple. It doesn't get simpler than this. I replace half the ketchup with 1/2 BBQ sauce at times.

I can relate to the casualties of moving. We moved in August and I am still looking for things. Hope you find it.

I found it! Had gotten it from http://livingtothink.blogspot.com/2007/08/it-all-alton-brown-fault.html. So, I'm not sure it's actually his recipe. Either way, I'm glad I found it. Thanks, again.
Sloppy Joes to Make You Forget the Canned Stuff:
1 onion, cut up
1 teaspoon garlic
1 pound hamburger
Brown all together then drain.
Add 1 cup ketchup, 1 cup water with 1/4 cup brown sugar dissolved, and 1 tablespoon molasses. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and wait to thicken.

The only thing that I wonder about, where's the tang? If it's too sweet, you may want to add a bit of vinegar.
