I need help with British recipes

Help!

My finance is moving from London to the United States and I want to make some recipes that will still feel like home for him and his daughter.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go to find recipes or have recipes that will help me cook for them?

If you use the recipe sifter to select Cuisine European English, you get a lot, http://www.food.com/recipe-finder/european,english
(Do remember that these are self-identified as English, in case some don't seem quite right - I don't know if this is so, but just speaking from prior experience!)

You'll need to sound them out for favorite types of recipes and then make sure you can get the right ingredients or reasonable subs. At least one of my local markets has a British foods section.

Hi,

A couple of celebrity chef's you could search for are James Martin and Jamie Oliver. The BBC website has an extensive food/recipe section.

If you want more 'authentic' (plain but good grub) then try searching for the hairy bikers. They present more homely food like a good meat and potato pie.

This post was timely, as I was just also searching for British recipes, and between the help on food.com and a site I found geared especially for Americans wishing to make British dishes, I'm geared up to start making my Cornish Pasties.

I'm not sure if links can be posted, but if you do a search for Jeff's Great British Eats, he has a nice collection of classics that are easy to make and made my mouth water.

A survey a few years ago on Britain's favourite dishes found that Indian curries came top of the list. So for a good old British recipe, get a book on how to cook a curry.

You have been given some good sites on British food but here is another; http://reluctanthousedad.com/ A point to make is that a survey a few years ago into favourite British dishes revealed that curries are top of the list, try one of those perhaps. The website I have given you has a big range of dishes not all of which are truly Brit. but a take on another nations dish. The most recent post is St. Patrick’s Day Slow Cooked Bacon with Potato Cake and Colcannon Sauce, and, as I write this I have two bacon joints in the slow cooker for this evenings effort on that dish.
