Well, we finished our class - and again, it went well.

Wow, huh? Bob was absolutely astounded that Jar was SO good - I mean, there he is, in a room full of other dogs, totally heeling and not paying any attention to any of them!

The class is really very much "more of the same" - we come in, do some variation of sit, stay, down, come, finish right / left. . . without holding onto the leash.

Then we do the heeling thing - I still keep Jar on his leash, though that show-offy poodly thing and the overly-exuberant GSD went off-leash.

Today we did a little "leave it" HA - we practice that every morning during Kitty Tolerance Time - I set a piece of CHICKEN down and tell him to leave it. While the other dogs were all, "hey, a milk bone!" Jar was resting it on his paw ignoring the crap out of it. icon_smile.gif

So anyway, I signed him up for YET ANOTHER advanced class - the way I figure it is that it's good for him to learn to deal with a room full of dogs, and for the price of the class, I'm not going to be able to give him that exposure any cheaper. And I can't help thinking that the more confident he feels, well, the more confidently he'll act, right?

PLUS, I also signed him up for TRACKING in June! How cool with that be? That's not until June, though. But he said that tracking usually sell out "like a Dave Matthews concert" - so I wanted to get while the getting was good. icon_smile.gif

We're off for the next two weeks, then we've got the next 6 weeks of class after that, then it'll be spring. icon_smile.gif

Thanks, Sara. I am very pleased with The Jar. icon_smile.gif

And, lucky for me, our break coincides with the once-a-year sale at a local pottery shop. That's the only time of the year I can afford to even walk in there! icon_wink.gif

Kris you and Jar have been so amazing. Keep up the good work. Both of you deserve a couple weeks off; you've worked so hard.

Jar is such a good boy. He's really come far and is very lucky you didn't give up. So much hard work for both of you but so worth the results.

    Congratulations Team Jarly!

Kris, I totally agree that classes are a great way to keep him socialized. He will LOVE tracking. It is so cool to see them do what comes naturally with very little interference from us humans. It also leads to other cool stuff. When they are tracking - (not initially) an article is laid on the track and they have to 'indicate' that article. Many people get their dogs to down by it. It's not much of a stretch from there to finding a glove you lost or a cell phone or car keys.

Enjoy your new mug when you get it. God knows you have earned it!
