I don't much eat analogs because there isn't much in the meat world I crave; however, on a recent trip to Whole Foods I found Field Roast frankfurters. The last hot dog I ate was when I was 19. I'm 61 now. But I've always loved them. I look at a Chicago dog and I crave one. Oh, Tofu Pups are a good standby but they don't have the bite of a real dog. But these Field Roast frankfurters are the best thing that happened to me. I must have eaten one every day since opening the pack of 6. I can't get enough of them. They have the bite, mouth feel and look of a real frank and the taste as welll. I've put them in sauerkraut, on the grill, cut up in the cabbage, carrots and potatoes I made for St. Patrick's day. I will outgrow this obsession eventually but wanted to share with all of you how delicious these things are!

I have been enjoying the Field Roast Mexican Chipotle for a few years. I recently found the frankfurters at Whole Foods and you are absolutely right! They are so much better than Smart Dogs and Tofu Pups.
You should try some of the other styles as they are just as good.
The best way, in my opinion, to enjoy the Mexican Chipotle is to place the links in a baking pan just large enough to fit the links, pour red wine to about half way up the links and bake at 350 degrees, turning the links a few times, until the wine has evaporated. Slice and serve as a tapas. YUM!

Hi, my son is vegan, and I also eat vegan, but alas am not a vegan because, quite frankly of frankfurters, (cheese is another) ....but I did buy some of the Field Roast hot dogs, and the taste and bite was a wonderful surprise! I boiled mine, first, and then used some Earth Balance "butter" to fry them up a bit, and they were so good!

It's nice to see a good sub for regular foods, most especially hot dogs! (don't care for tofu pups).

I just recently bought some Field Roast Italian "Sausage". I'm looking forward to giving them a try!

I've been using the Field Roast Italian sausages for quite awhile in recipes that I used to enjoy that included sausage as an ingredient and it works quite well. Even DH likes it.

Field Roast also makes holiday "loaves" and mini "loaves", which are like mini roasts. I tried the Celebration roast for Thanksgiving and Christmas for myself and my vegetarian cousin. We liked it very much.

I got it at Whole Foods in the frozen section as well as a market in Novi (FYI to LifeisGood, it is at Grand River and Novi Rd by Andiamo's called Better Health).

Thanks! I got mine at Whole Foods, too. I also go to a Better Health on occasion. I love those stores!

I haven't tried this one yet but I think this is a great alternative. I will try this one and we'll see!
