Love Them Taters!
February is the month of love and one of the most beloved vegetables is the potato. It is the vast assortment of varieties, many flavors and versatility of uses that make the potato nick named the tater such a popular vegetable.
While there are close to 4,000 different varieties of potato a member of the Solanaceae family, generally categorized into a few amin groups such as russets, whites, yellows, purples and reds, which should not be confused with the 1,000 species of sweet potato / yam which are a member of the Convolvulaceae family.
Do you love potatoes? What a about sweet potato / yams? Well if the answer is yes then show it with a photo of your taters.
For this event we are looking for taters of every size, shape and kind. No tag or recipe needed.
Will you be posting them raw, grilled or maybe baked with all the fixings or as a sweet potato pie, French fried or fried into chips, do you make salad out of your taters? All and any tater photos welcome.

I may be back, but here is one to get you going with....
Possibly the finest use of potatoes the humble "Chip" (thats a thick cut Fry to our American viewers)....
What makes these particular ones so special is the location. This is a restaurant in Cyprus about 3 miles from the farm where these beautiful Cypriot Potatoes were harvested late the night before/early that morning (so no aging being stored/shipped/warehoused/delivered/put out in shop), as fresh as you can get and then deep fried until golden brown...

As it's high summer here, here's another one for the collection, Deb. It's a potato-and-shrimp salad. Delicious in summer!

Clever, Steve!!
This is nothing special, but it is actually a Food.com recipe I've just made, together with stuffed tomatoes, to go with tonight's chicken.
It is not so much a recipe, as an idea -- and I grab at anything quick and simple! It's flavoursome! I added lots of fresh garlic. It's Easy Oven-Simmered Potatoes, Carrots and Onions by Wildflour.

Hi Zurie,
Thanks.
And I also think it's funny when posts happen
at the same time.

Chef S, I did it on the stove, as that was an alternative the chef suggested. It was really easier than using the oven, which had the chicken in it anyway.
It's terrible simple, but the chef suggested that bread to mop up the sauce will be great, and I think that would be delicious.

Steve all your photos and talk about Cyprus has put it on my bucket list.
Wow Steve that carved potato rocks!
Zurie that salad looks and sounds like something my DM would love, will have to try and remember that for her b-day which is still a few months off.
I will not and could not argue with CS the photo of the simmered veggies is wonderful.
CS you can stand there and say ah shucks while I use the time to polish off that tasty looking tater.

Cyprus, my favourite place
Potato carving... I took about 30 pictures with and without the lights, moving them about from onside to the other, top, bottom, overhead, both together etc to try and make all the letters stand out properly... then adjusted with the skills learnt when we did the colour to black and white thread..
