The recipe calls for a 2 to 2 1/2 lb chicken. Your chicken is twice as large. I wonder whether you will be able to balance it on the 12 ounce beer can. If you can and if it will fit in your oven, then you may be able to make this but you will have to allow enough time for a bigger bird to cook. Perhaps a 16 ounce can would work better. Perhaps someone commented in a review.

One of the reviewers used a 5 1/2 pound chicken, and gave the recipe 5 stars. She did say the can was a little hard to remove.
