The recipe calls for "5 dashes of garlic". Does this mean 5 dashes of garlic powder...or some other form of garlic?

There are two recipes posted by this name, and neither calls for dashes of garlic in the ingredients or the directions. For whatever recipe you are asking about, it could be garlic powder or garlic salt - those would be the most likely choices, in my mind.

I searched the Internet and could find only one recipe that used garlic at all. That one used garlic powder, so I guess that's what it means.

The right amount of garlic is pretty subjective, so it's best to just add as much or as little as you are comfortable with and in a form you are used to using. "Five dashes" would be a little more than 1/2 teaspoon, as a dash is commonly assumed to be 1/8 teaspoon.

It depends on how heavy your hand is with that shaker! icon_wink.gif

You're so right Chocolatl, one persons dash could could be another persons pinch. Thanks for the giggle. icon_biggrin.gif

The commonly accepted measurement for a "dash", again, is 1/8 teaspoon. It's more than a "pinch".
