THIS SO-CALLED DIET IS DANGEROUSLY UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE FOLLOWED. The statement that it comes from a Toronto hospital is a LIE (urban myth, if you're feeling generous). DO NOT USE THIS.

I'm curious. What is dangerous about this 7-day diet?

It's radically unbalanced, like most fad diets, and you mostly lose water weight.
"Although you can lose several pounds in the first week of the diet, dieters usually regain the weight quickly after stopping the diet. In fact, it's not uncommon for some dieters to put on even more weight than before."

Since you are lacking essential nutrients, such as protein and iron, you may develop side effects, such as fatigue, difficulty concentrating, nausea and dizziness.

And despite the title of some versions, this diet is not connected in any way with the Mayo Clinic.

Doctors recommend no more than a 1-2 pound per week weight loss. When you go on a radical diet such as this one, you're teaching your body that it's starving. When you go back to eating normally, you will burn fewer calories than before, because your body is trying to recover from starvation and protect itself from future famine.
