Yes tasb that is cute story icon_biggrin.gif

Like the coffee idea over the pill idea

Don’t know if my brother was ADA or not because he is old and they did not know about ADA when he grew up but my mother used to do things (chores and play both) to were him out before sending to school or sitting him down for home work. She always said he paid better attention once he was tired out.

So glad you felt better after working out and even happier your shoulder is feeling better.

Bonnie, a herb garden is a god sent to those of us that like to cook. Tomatoes should do well if herbs are doing well.

Still think you are enjoying a wonderful opportunity living abroad. Your cran apple walnut cake look yummy.gif

As for me was not able to go for a walk so instead I climbed 3 flights of stairs today.

Bonnie, I hope your walk was great, love the look of that cake. I so agree with you on gardening. I have been slipping up on mine since I started working, but I love going to pick things from the garden to put in my meal. I sure miss tomatoes, I haven't gotten them to grow the past 3 years. It was when I changed over to doing transplants, I used to just put the seeds in the ground and I always had lots of tomatoes. Heck for years noone around here knew my name because we don't get out into the community, when I started work one elder asked if I was that girl in the Subdivision with the garden. I was always out there.

Laury, done walking for the week already, good for you. I don't think my son can be stunted if he started drinking coffee now, he is 5' 9" the last time we measured him, in summer. Not bad for a mom who is only 5' 1". he also has asthma, another reason to bug him. icon_lol.gif He tried a sip of coffee years ago and hated it, and I have been so anti-caffeine with my kids. Now I am encouraging him to drink it icon_twisted.gif icon_eek.gif

Debbwl, sure sounds like he could have been. Exercise, change of diet (complex carbs, more protein, smaller more frequent meals) and sleep are the biggest none drug things the one website said to do. Good for you climbing 3 flights of stairs. I so hate stairs.

Me, well I was tired all day, I swore if I sat down anytime before lunch I would have fallen asleep. I was sleeping so heavily, hubby was saying the cat was meowing last night to go out, even came upstairs to get my and the girls attention and I didn't hear him. He doesn't meow loudly but normally I hear him.

I like the idea of the stairs, that's something I have available and need to take advantage of, think I'll start that today and see how I do.

Boy tasb, you must have needed that sleep, glad you were able to get it. I always do transplants with my tomatoes, never even thought of seeds as the growing season in our community is so short -- but I do love those home grown ones. We're looking into buying a green house for our garden this year just so we can extend the growing season longer.

Morning ladies... it's Thursday! Worked 10 1/2 hours M-W, hopefully only 9 today. I made it to Zumba Monday night, Tuesday & Wednesday it was pouring rain and I didn't want to leave again once I got home (yeah I know it's just an excuse). I think we have a couple of days break in the wet weather so hopefully I can make it tonight. I've been drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day, eating healthy and keeping my food log, so we'll see what the scale has to say on Monday. Of course I have to make it through the weekend first. icon_eek.gif Have a great day y'all!

Oh yeah, doin' a happy dance here. DH got the email payment confirmation that our LAST car payment was received and the title is in the mail. Woohoo! Now maybe we can start thinking about having the bathroom remodeled. icon_biggrin.gif

Debbwl, I'm glad that your mother was smart enough to tire your brother out before school and homework. Years ago not much was done for any type of learning disability such as ADD and ADHD. I'm impressed that you can walk 3 flights of stairs.

tasb, you might want to let your son add some milk and sugar to his coffee. Black coffee is still not something I can drink. Since your husband heard the cat meowing, did he let the cat out?

Bonnie G, are you looking for a greenhouse where you are now or when you return home?

Alisa Lee, you are doing the right things so the scale should show it on Monday.

I am in a much better mood and coping a little better. My friend reminded me yesterday that I can choose to be happy or I can choose to be right when arguments occur. I just have to decide which one I want.

Oh I like that one Laury, with most arguments you can just choose to be "happy" and save the big important ones for "right" Think I might post that on my face book.

I started stair walking today, while it's hard "only 3 flights" it's easier than going out in the rain. Haven't been great on my eating but have increased the water so thats a move in the right direction.

I'm looking for a green house to put in my garden in WA, I really want to expand our growing season - living in the mountains it can be short. I've found two on the Costco site that I really like just not sure which one yet. Then of course once it's delivered you've got to put it together so that might take awhile.

This is DH's short week at work, so he's off after today - we're planning a drive to the Eastern side of the island to explore.

I am checking in for my last time until after I have surgery and am able to type again. I have been so busy trying to prepare for this that I just have not had the time to post a lot and I miss you all. I don't feel I know Deb or Alisa that well and hope to get to know you all better once this is all over with.

For the last few days I have been trying to get things like my medications fixed for 4 weeks so I don't have to worry with opening pill bottles, my nicorette gum taken out of the package so I can chew it if I start having cravings, sheets changed on both my bed and my guest bed, that is one of the things that is hard for me now so it took me two days to get both beds done. I am sure glad I got rid of one of the bedrooms, so don't have to worry with a third bed any more. Now all I have to do is vacuum my three rooms that have carpet, which is the two bedrooms and my computer/exercise room. Need to mop my kitchen and clean the hardwood on my hall and living room but that is just going to have to wait. I have hired a young lady to spend the weekend with me, and she said she'd do it, so I am leaving that. I got books to read, just hope I can hold them and several other small things to occupy my time.

Sounds like everyone is doing better with their weight an exercise goals than me. I went to the doctor yesterday and he asked me why I had gained some weight, I said well there is three reasons. 1 beings I am tired of dieting all the time, 2 is I have felt sorry for myself and haven't exercised like I should and the third is the main reason, I have been eating things I shouldn't. He said, "Holidays. Do better the next time I see you." So I have got to get a few pounds gone. I am hoping the surgery will take my appetite for a while, too.

I will miss you all but will be back as soon as possible.

tasb, I swear that I had ADHD when I was in school, too, and I think I still have it, I cannot concentrate long at all now days. That might be age though, I am not sure.

Well tasb all I can say is if you were sleeping that hard your body need the rest and I am glad you were able to get it.

Boy Alisa Lea you are doing so well!!!

Laury, I was always taught you should pick you battles something I never seemed to learn icon_lol.gif

Bonnie 3 flights is great the tops of my thighs were burning at 3 flights. Hope you two have a fun time exploring the island.

Jacqueline will be keeping you in my thoughts. Hope you have an easy sugary and speedy recovery.

As for me with the OT and extra assignments at work I did not get any exercise in.

Alisa Lea, good for you getting in so much water, do your best to get over your excuses, it is hard. I have to push myself for a couple hours to get my workout in, and I workout at home. But also give yourself allowance for all the hours you work. Awesome getting your car paid off and being able to get other things done.

Laury, your friend is so right, we make the choice on how we feel. Hope you got lots of rest lately too.

Bonnie, good for you starting the stairs. Your eating will come around, but great you are getting water in too. Have a great long weekend with your hubby.

Jac, I hope you get to check in soon, but take care of yourself and try not to worry about things, everything will fall into place. Good for you getting so much house work done with a painful shoulder. I have let my floors going and my shoulder isn't that bad. Being honest with yourself about why you have gained will help you in the long run to get things to get back on track.

Debbwl, extra work and assignments, get those out of the way and worry about exercise later.

Me, well I got a Snow Day. I made it to work, but according to the boss we didn't have enough staff to keep the school open for even a fun day of movies. 5 of us made it in for under 40 kids at the most. We could have managed, but with only 2 teaching staff. Well I don't know, as long as I don't catch heck from school board for heading home. I needed it though I napped before and after lunch. I am feeling much better. I got in 48 minutes today on the elliptical. I really pushed myself to do it but it feels good.

In the end hubby didn't put cat out Wednesday night, the kitty is just being picky about using the litter box, he will go down and use it when he has no choice as it probably smells like the other cats. Sometimes the cat heads out and turns around and wants back in. He acts like such a pampered pet. He was put out this morning when he started meowing, at 6 am.

Bonnie G., doing 3 flights of stairs is incredible!!

Jacqueline, I do agree that long ago teachers and parents weren't using the term ADD and ADHD. You may have had it .
Is it possible that the daily pain you are in from my fibro could make concentrating harder?

Debbwl, not exercising because you are tired of overtime occasionally makes sense. As long as you watch your water drinking and the food you eat, you will be okay.

Alisa Lee, paying off your car is wonderful!

    tasb, get some good rest.

    Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Day 11 of 11 done. I got in 50 minutes on the elliptical tonight. I am feeling better with the extra sleep I got yesterday. I was having a good night's sleep too last night until I rolled over and found my youngest sleeping with me around 11:30, didn't even realize she came to my bed. I got back to sleep no problem and was in a nice deep sleep when an alarm clock went off and I reached over to turn it off and it wouldn't, so I woke and realize it wasn't mine. I thought it was the youngest's and when I was heading to her room I realized it was the older DD's. And it was midnight. I kept waking after that. But I felt less tired that I have all week.

tasb. good job on exercising daily!! It's great that you got a Snow Day so you could get rested.

I got my exercising done before 9 this morning. Now we are watching a movie on TV and resting. I didn't get enough deep sleep last night.

Laury, good for you getting your exercise in so early. Hope you got the rest you needed.

Me, by 9 I was just getting going, we slept until 8:30 today, then after showers we were off to town. I rested all afternoon after we got back. But still got in 54 minutes on the elliptical tonight. I am kinda peeved at UPS right now. I have been waiting for a package for 2 weeks now and it was to be delivered Thursday, well there was bad weather Wednesday, but it did make it to town that day. The roads were pretty bad Thursday, hubby was home all day and didn't get a knock at the door or a phone call from them. Now it is on hold in town. So I Googled found an address and went there to pick it up, well it is a drop-off site not a pick-up. Then I went to the pick-up site and they are closed on weekends. I haven't gotten an email or phone call saying to pick up either.

Morning ladies! I posted this on Facebook this morning and I thought I'd share it with you too. I'm not looking for a pat on the back, but rather hoping to share a little inspiration/motivation. We CAN do this! icon_smile.gif The first picture was taken 12/25/10 and the second was 11/10/12.

With the new year I've gotten back on track with exercise and healthier eating, but the last half of last year I'd gotten lazy and the scale wasn't moving. It's easy to get discouraged. Yesterday my Zumba instructor (thank you Lily!) asked me for "before and after" pictures for a project she's working on. What a difference 60 pounds makes! Here's my motivation to keep going.
