I have been finding more and more of my photos on other people's websites and blogs without credit or a link back to Food.com. If I resubmit photos to recipes with a watermark, would it be a huge problem for you all to remove the older photos? I promise I wouldn't resubmit all 2,500+ photos.

I also promise I wouldn't resubmit them all at once. But, I didn't want to go through the hassle of adding watermarks & resubmitting them if you all didn't have the time or inclination to remove the old ones.
Thanks!!
~Marg

BTW, my understanding is that it is now okay to post photos with small, unobtrusive watermarks on them. If so, I think maybe the photo submissions page should be updated to reflect this...
Thanks,

Yes, absolutely! We can remove any photos you wish that you upload. Just let me know which recipes etc. It may be easier to send me a Zmail if it is a fairly long list.

Hi Marg and Mary,
Unfortunately we don't allow watermarked photos. We did for a time recently, but found that people were getting more and more aggressive with their watermarks, making them bolder and covering up the middle of the img and we weren't able to use them for any of our editorial features so we had to go back to how it used to be, no watermarks.
I know this will be frustrating for you, Marg, when you only want to protect your insanely gorgeous photos, but my hands are tied. It will be a very sad day indeed if you have to stop posting photos here (as in i will pretty much have to curl up in the fetal position and rock myself to sleep), but the decision is set and I can't change it.
Stupid photo stealers...

Thanks, Liza, for the clarification. I visited the Photo Forum recently and they have a thread on how it is okay to use watermarks now. I guess they haven't heard it isn't okay again.
Thanks!
~Marg
P.S. and even though photo thieves are annoying, it won't stop me from posting photos here.

Technically you are establishing your copyright when you post them here under your name. From a practical standpoint, I guess you just have to keep a close watch.
