Hi all,
I have been approached by two different friends who want to help the fire victims in a tangible way. Money gets used for the necessary things, and thats great, but these people have lost their links to their past.

Cathy in Childers wants to put together a cookbook, cause she said that so many people will have lost all their cookbooks, including the ones from mum and Grandma.
She wants to make up a cookbook to give to each family in the bushfire area.
I think she should also sell some to raise the money to pay for the printing
I feel she is looking for the old fashioned comfort foods, as opposed to "gordon Blue" stuff
I have sent her my recipes, and also sent an email to all my non-zaar friends, telling them to do the same.


Derris in Tasmania is part of a very very keen quilters group.
They are asking for any patchwork squares, unfinished bits and pieces, and probably material and notions.
They have a heap of Polar Fleecy, and they intend to make a quilt for every child in the fire area.
This is a 12 month project, but then, many of these kids wont have a bedroom they can call their own for a year!

So, this is a chance to help out, and it will cost nothing but time, and maybe postage

I am not rich, and cant give heaps of money, a few minutes to cut and paste a few recipes is fine.
Going thru my "fabric stash" and finding a few UFO's , I can do

I dont know if its legal, but I will post this in the "crafty" forum as well

O'kay mummamills I have Zmailed you I'll be in on the recipe side but can't help on the quilt side (wouldn't know were to start). On second thought I have had an idea so send me the details for that too.

just thought I would let you know that the Tassie girls doing the quilts have been run off their feet with donations, and they are urging people to contact a local quilting group in Oz, as most of the groups are making quilts for for victims.

Apparently they want to make 10,000 quilts

I am a quilter in Qld but have the option of coming to Tassie next month and would love to join other quilters making quilts for the fire victims. Flying down so it would be hard to bring a sewing machine. Happy to help anyway I can. Have accomodation in Franklin, but Husband will be going to Hobart for the Wooden boat festival. We have transport. Margaret.
