    Mon Dec 31, 2012 11:41 am Groupie

Cornbread and Collard Greens, a Southern Classic Combo that screams Comfort! The Cornbread part can also get you into a heated argument.
Sweet or Not? Bread pan or screaming hot cast iron skillet? With "stuff" or without? "Stuff" being diced jalapenos, cheddar cheese, whole kernnel corn or even creamed. You know, "stuff" icon_lol.gif

There's something for everyone-with over 2000 cornbread and cornbread related's clearly a favorite. Got one?

Collard Greens. In the States, we associate them with southern cooking and southern chefs take no small amount of pride in their greens. Collards, a kind of cabbage, have been around since ancient times, first cultivated along the Mediterranean. Depending on the recipe it can take as much as three hours to make a pot of collard greens, or as little as 30 minutes. Choose wisely icon_wink.gif

So here's what you do. You fix up a mess of greens. With about 30 minutes left mix up and bake your cornbread. When done ladle up a bowl of greens and serve up your cornbread which is what you use to sop up the "pot likker".
