I know we are doing a fondue, sausage rolls and spanakopitas for NYE, and I have a ham bone and lots of ham for a ham and bean dish for New Year's Day, along with cornbread, and kale done collard greens style.
What are your food plans?

I think we may have a soup pot luck dinner for NYE. One friend suggested it, waiting to hear from everyone else.
Probably a couple of soups, chili, bread, salad.

We've decided to stay in this year too.
Due to a great sale at the butchers last week it will be Rack Of Lamb. I want to have a good old 1970's shrimp cocktail to start and I haven't got any further than that.

First NYE “alone” in… well what feels like forever
My “baby” will be at a sleepover party at her friends house (bless the mother’s heart, six thirteen/fourteen year old girls on New Years Eve, getting hopped up on Martinelli’s sparkling cider and Christmas Candy)
CHAMPAGNE!
Bread sticks wrapped w/ prosciutto (because it’s easy and I don’t have to cook)
Def going w/ the old school shrimp cocktail!
A cheese tray or buy one of those packages of frozen puff pastry hor’dourves
MAYBE the cream cheese w/ jezebel sauce (if I REALLY feel like being old school)
NYD we all head to one of my husbands families homes (rotating party each year) for the Family “Christmas” gathering
There will be pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, Harry Lang’s, cesar salad, a baked bean dish that’s got a bunch of meat in it (that my husband says is NOT his mother’s recipe but his youngest sister SWEARS it’s something Mom made, so she makes it every year)
and I’m not sure what else, I know I’m bringing an antipasti platter

I have no clue what we're doing for NYE, other than staying at home. We'll be lucky if DH or I either one can stay awake til midnight.
NYD I'm having ham, black eyed peas, cabbage & cornbread.

We do have two bottles of Champagne given to us by brother in law, we're thinking of Japanese. Red and white salad is traditional New Year food there, and some tempura would go great with the Champers.

Enjoy that NYE date night, Chrissy!
I am making a Simple Salad, shaved parm, and homemade bleu cheese dressing
French Bread for dipping into olive oil/balsamic/oregano
Shrimp that has been roasted in olive oil/sea salt and oregano served at room temp with a homemade cocktail sauce (smoky/spicy/zipped up withfresh and jarred horseradish)
Ribeyes on the grill (yep, even in a snowstorm)
Pan Fried Mushrooms
a Couple Lobster Tails, broiled
Dessert will be Pavlova served with a Warm Fruit of Peaches, Pears, Pineapple, Strawberries and Blueberries with lots of cinnamon.
NYD brekkie will be a Blueberry Cream Cheese French Toast Casserole, with oven roasted Bacon.
NYD Dinner will be Chili (definitely with Beans!) and Cornbread Muffins (sweet)

New Year's celebrations are usually non-existent since for my family the real new year's celebration begins with my annual Twelfth Night party mid-January. But we sure don't neglect food!!
New Year's eve we have the traditional tamales in this part of the country, and on New Year's day we have white posole. My mother was from the south, so it was a "rule" that I've carried on to cook up a pot of black eyed peas, onions and ham hocks for good luck! Served with dense jalapeno cornbread will make you believe you've died and gone to heaven, and it's delicious with posole as well as the ham and black-eyed peas.
Since we are all stew and soup lovers, this will "good eatin'" for a few days, and nothing is better than leftover tamales for breakfast!

I'll be having black eyed peas cooked with smoked ham hocks and cornbread.
Fresh/pre-shucked peas are readily available and affordable around New Year Day in Texas but for some reason I prefer the dried. I don't know why.

Gosh, I'm so tired of planning menus I could scream. These holidays (Tday, Xmas Eve, Xmas, NY) are too dang close together!
We have no plans to bring in the new year w/ friend or family. Fine by me. I value my sleep. DH and I will be in bed by 10.
DD will be on a ski trip. DS does not have any plans, yet. He's kind of a homebody anyway.
Prosecco & Shrimp cocktail sounds like a winner for NYE
NYD I thought I would try a new recipe I posted. I was gonna make it the other day but we did our SousVide beef tenderloin instead.
So........ Award Winning Fiesta Chili I'll likely halve the recipe.
Slightly different cuz it uses 2 lbs lean ground beef, 1/2 lb ground pork sausage, 1 lb chorizo sausage and a whole bunch of other stuff.

New Year's Day we always do Chinese food -- either takeout or go to a restaurant - think maybe a restaurant this year.
New Year's Eve isn't a big day for us either - not sure yet but thinking of fondue may be fun.

I'm adding Kiwi Steak to the NYE nibbles.
