    Seeking information about: rum, substitutions in recipes

    Is there anything one can substitute for the rum in a recipe? for e.g., the French Toast made with soy milk

    If you just don't have rum, but use alcohol, you can use another alcohol that you like. If you like the flavor but don't use alcohol, you can use rum flavoring, although not in the same quantity. I imagine that in a French toast there is just a tablespoon or so of rum, and you could just omit it or perhaps use a little vanilla flavoring or orange extract. Again, in a much smaller quantity.
