Printing a recipe

I am a new member and am having trouble printing a recipe. I think I have done everything I need to do to become a member. Each time I try to print the recipe when my printer shows a print preview it is a blank page. I even went ahead and printed it and it shows the border and "page 1 of 2" at the top of the page but nothing else. What should I do?

You are probably using IE. Some but not all users have this problem, which makes it hard to diagnose. I have it,too. I have a workaround - I click the fullscreen button on the recipe and then print that - if you use Print Preview on your browser, on the upper left you can click the orientation from portrait to landscape, which is what I usually prefer. Then print from that. I like this better for cooking because the ingredients are on one side and the instructions are on the other side - easier to follow.

First make sure you are clicking the PRINT RECIPE tab to the right of the recipe. If you are using the print feature on your browser, you won't get a good printout.
When you click the Print button, do you get a print preview page to pop up? The recipe will be on the left and a box with options to select Page Size, Print Size as well as to include About this Recipe, Nutritional Info, Photo, Private Note, Reviews, Coupon/Ad. If not, is the preview page popping up behind the window you are viewing? Does that print preview page look OK?
If you see no print preview page, hold down the control key and click the Print button. If that works, you need to adjust your security settings because your security program thinks the print preview page is a pop-up ad and is blocking it.
Click to PRINT off of this print preview page after selecting page size and options. Let us know if you need further help.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, especially since I haven't been here in months. But I cannot seem to find a print button ANYWHERE on recipes any more! There is no print tab, there is no print button. At first I thought it was because I wasn't signed in (although that seems silly), but it simply is not there. Not anywhere that I can see, not on any recipe. I've been looking for over 20 minutes.
I'm using Chrome, by the way. Not that it should matter in being able to find a print button on a recipe so I can use it.

Look to the right of the Ingredients heading - you should see the Print Recipe button - it is blue. Next to it is the Fullscreen button.

I see neither of those things. Hopefully the screenshot doesn't come out too small.

Huh. Just had a friend look. Turns out those options do not show in Chrome, only IE or Firefox. Seems stupid to hide your print function in a browser that is used by 53% of the internet population at last poll. Thanks for trying! I'll go back to recipe sites that actually work.

Gosh, that did not used to be the case. It is not a deliberate situation. I cannot confirm as I do not have Chrome on this computer, but I am sure Mary will be looking into this.
Could you please provide information about your version of Chrome and also Flash and Java, just in case there is something about those that causes the problem? It will help Mary out.

That's strange as I can see it on my Chrome Version 23.0.1271.97. What version do you have?

Mine is an older version, but the print and fullscreen buttons are there as they should be.

I'm using version 23.0.1271.97 m.
I have had several people look from different computers using different browsers, and not one person using Chrome, whether updated or not, can see those buttons.
Edit:
Now I see. On a whim, I disabled AdBlock Plus for a minute, and they were there. You must really, really want people to look at the overabundance of annoying ads if you've made your print and fullscreen buttons register as an ad. Remember when the premium memberships were done away with, and staff here suggested we use AdBlock Plus if we still didn't want to see the ads? Guess that's no longer suggested.
At least now we all know why. I've since copied the few recipes from here I hadn't already, so I don't need to come back here again.

Are these all at work? It could be that some type of security program your company uses is causing problems.
I see the buttons just fine on Chrome, so does Mary.

No one I know has time to play around on a computer at work, and even if we did we don't all work for the same company (I don't even work for the same company every day), so no, those are all home computers. But if you see my edit, you'll see I've discovered why it is.

I have Adblockplus on my computer also, and I see the print and fullscreen buttons. It may be that there is some other program interacting it and disabling adblockplus is what worked for you. At least you figured it out for your particular set-up.
