The end result will be so worth it! I was getting worried you'd have a mess at Christmas but its looking ok for that.

Back to normal soon. Just hang in.

I have 2nd bathroom envy btw. We want to move next year and as much as I love old houses like ours I want one with 2 bathrooms next time.

I love the old houses too, thus our house in Oklahoma only has one bathroom and believe me even with just my DH and me, it's not enough. And to think my brother and his wife raised four girls and one boy in an old farmhouse with one bathroom. Not sure how they did it.

Okay, so they're done.

Mostly. The one guy is supposed to stop Monday and put the shelf and bar up in the closet - evidently the sales guy forgot to mention it.

But other than that, they're done. I will need to paint - everywhere - but that's just going to have to wait.

Jar did stunningly with me yesterday morning - I kept him upstairs and sat up there with him knitting. (It's 10 days to Christmas, and I've still got socks to finish!) - he barely made a peep. My husband got home around noon and brought him downstairs and had no problem with him.

AND when my mother-in-law showed up for dinner (Friday's pizza night, after all), he mobbed her for his obligatory cookie, leaned on her a bit, then left her alone!

Seriously, the poor thing was so beat, he just crashed in his bed until Kong time - he didn't even hang round the kitchen looking for stray bits of fallen cheese!

So we kept our walk a little short this morning, and we've got class today, then he's got two weeks off.

Oh, and I grew up in a family of 6, and we survived with one bathroom ,too - it was a ranch house, so at least the bathroom wasn't upstairs.

And I think I'm going to go pee now. Just because I can.

Well, the bathroom is done, but it's not finished.

I've got a little window with a nice deep (ish) window sill for a couple of plants, and, of course, the normal facilities are there.

I still have to paint, etc., but I don't know yet quite what I want to do. I'm going to also have to paint the foyer (where the bathroom is carved out of) and new closet, and the stairs (they had to move the landing to make room) and the living room (which is attached to where everything was/is.

I want to figure out what I want before I go painting willy-nilly then hating it. Not that I've ever done THAT before.





Bathrooms are hard to photograph. I mean, there's nothing interesting in there, you know?

The fact that there IS one that wasn't there before is pretty interesting to me.
Good thinking on holding off until you have the full game plan in mind. If you are on Pinterest there are enough awesome ideas for a dozen or so houses.

Yep, I have bathroom envy

It is kind of weird - I've never had a second bathroom, except for when my parents had the big old farmhouse, and I was only there for a couple of years.

We'd sort of thought about looking for another house - one with more space - but this one is so close to paid for (well, 10 years or so), and there are just the two of us (plus the dog and cat, of course) - it would be crazy to buy a BIGGER house! So I'm just going to try to gradually make it the house we WANT.

All in all, they did a nice job - I had a big, open front room (it used to be a porch, then it was enclosed and made part of the living area) where I used to have my desk and a rocking chair, and now that's about half the size. The desk is going to have to go, because there's just no room for it, and the rocking chair, well, I'm still trying to figure out where that will go.

Previous owners have done inexplicable things to this house - it looks like there may be a false wall in the living room - they probably added that when they put the closet in that we just took out. That will eventually go, I think - wouldn't it be nice to add a couple of extra feet to the living room?

Oh, and they apparently walled over a closet in the master bedroom - NO idea who or why. There was additional storage space in the bedroom that also got walled over - I guess SOMEONE didn't care for closet space.

The worst (so far) is where somebody actually covered over a heat vent in the kitchen - and they left it open!

The decorating, though - that's going to be a challenge. I see so much stuff I'd LOVE - but I'm not sure what my "style" is - or if I even have one.

I'm with you Kris - I don't know if I have a style. My SIL is awesome at decorating - me - I have no idea what to do or even what I want to do.

Exactly! And everything is so open that it should be tied together somehow . . . but I just don't know how!

And I've used pinterest, and it's cool, but it's SO overwhelming - there's just so much there!

I do like an open floor plan. I've been to Pinterest, but I'm not really sure how to get around there.
